For the [Gala] finale, Keegan backflipped over Jimmy Ma while Amber filmed with her phone at ice level. :D

Good job shooting that by Amber. (Not that it matters in the least but I noticed that Jimmy handed the phone to Amber and got it back from her after so it's likely his phone.)
Jimmy had previously stood at the boards and videoed Amber's program on, what I presume was, the same phone - they were obviously "working together" :)

Have Keegan and Elladj teamed up yet to back flip over people together?

It doesn't look like world standings have been updated since Golden Spin. Prior to the competition, Keegan was ranked 10th. Are the starting orders for the O's based on world standings? If so, I wonder how his Golden Spin results win will affect the standings. As it is right now, he would likely be in the second last warm-up group .

Answering my own question about world standings, Keegan is now ranked 5th in the World, and if the standings don't change, he will be in the final flight for the SP, per this ISU document which states that SP start orders will be in reverse of world standings.

However he's basically tied with Morisi Kvitelashvili and Matteo Rizzo, and isn't too far ahead of Dmitri Aliev and Deniss Vasiljevs - all of whom will likely compete at Euros and potentially gain points to surpass him. (Yuzuru and Shoma are below him too, but I don't think they'll be going to 4CC to bump their standings)

Nam is the 2nd highest Canadian (ranked 29th), then Roman (40th)

That section is solely for the team event regarding reverse order.

Rule 520 1) states that it's going to be the same type of draw as it has been for the last few Olympics. Europeans results will play a big part in that final group, and potentially even 4CC if it has Olympic-bound skaters.

I guess I did look at a completely different document. Whoops. But good to know that he'll be in the top half. So will MT/M if they qualify (They're currently the 6th ranked pairs team), as well as G/P and potential FB/S (currently 2nd and 7th in dance, though with some strong European teams near FBS in current scores)

Messing still has a fair shot to stay in that top 6 and into the final group. Hanyu most certainly will not be in that group if he does make it to Beijing.

The details are that the top 6 draw for the final warmup group. The next 6 draw for the penultimate group. The next 3 (in men and women) draw for the last three spots of the group before that. Everyone else (15 skaters) draws for any spot in the 'first half'.

Grassl needs only a top 8 at Euros to expand his lead over Keegan.

As far as the people behind him: Kvitelashvili with a top 5, Rizzo with a top 5 (6th will tie them!), Aliev with top 11 if he makes it, Kolyada with a win, and Vassiljevs with a top 2 can all go ahead of him. I have no idea who will be sent to 4CC so I'm skipping over them for now.

It seems incredibly unfair to skaters to lose points or standings because they can’t compete at events because of Crud cancellations.

The scoring points shouldn’t be cumulative during a pandemic.

The ISU system has been in place for 20 years now with tweaks over the years. What does it matter if they skate in the last or second to last group? Hanyu (if he goes) and P/C will both be out of the final groups. Shen/Zhao skated first in 2010. Plushenko skated 10th in that same Olympics. Hanyu wasn't in the final group in 2014 and picked the earliest possible position for his grouping. Yuna Kim skated just after the beginning of the second half in 2014 and won the SP. Sui/Han weren't in the final group in 2018 and won the SP.

The system has always benefited skaters who filled out their seasons with Challenger/B events. There was no Worlds in 2020, no Euros/4CC in 2021 and none of the Grand Prix events counted last year because they were domestic. It's not as if anyone is at a super disadvantage or advantage compared to any other Olympic season, so for who exactly do you think it's not fair? The fact that the GPF was canceled? No one 'lost' points because of that.

He also mentioned it in his instagram story today.

I know you can travel with skates on a plane in Canada. I am guessing you can't on American airlines?

What a horrible ordeal. Plus the 33-hour journey with 2 layovers, traveling with an infant.... I feel so bad for Keegan. Could he petition to be sent to the Olympics?

I don't know where I read it but he describes his travel woes somewhere. He was originally meant to get a direct flight from Vancouver to Ottawa but then the nightmare began of cancelled flights and I seem to recall Seattle being mentioned and Toronto. His flight to Ottawa from Toronto was cancelled so he had a 16 hour layover there. Would have been quicker to drive ;)

You can't take skates in your carry on luggage on an international flight, which Alaska to Ottawa is
Yes I am aware Alaska is in the US which is why I wondered aloud if it was only Canadian airlines that allow you to fly with skates. I have flown before with my daughter on an international flight leaving Canada with her skates in hand luggage. We weren't connecting so it wasn't an issue.

Oh my... https://www.instagram.com/stories/namnamnoodle/2745550909200821425/ So, Keegan's going to try and skate in new boots tomorrow... I really hope his luggage arrives before he has to compete tomorrow.
Wow. I mean, good for him for adapting and making the best of things, but to have to try to break in new skates when actually AT the competition... And even if his skates do arrive, he'll be 'used' to more stiff skates now, since the last things he'll have worn are the brand new ones, so it'll be a bit of an adjustment.
And though I'm sure he'll polish them black, it'd be entertaining to see him out there in white skates. I'm impressed that he was able to actually be able to purchase some on such short notice!

I'm disappointed Gogolev has withdrawn. I thought he was one who could help shake things up a bit. Do we know a reason?
