Thanks for the schedule.

For those coming - no football game this year. Utah is on the road at USC that weekend. This should be very low key - even more so than usual. If anyone finds a roster for the novice and junior challenge skate - please post it.

If anyone is coming for the first time and has questions, I can try to help.

Yessss!!! Definitely some great entries across all disciplines! :cheer: Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee

Both Popova and Shpilevaya in dance, too! :respec:

Liza is really doing this and then Las Vegas just a few days later? She certainly enjoys the "competing every week" routine.

Pairs was never was scheduled for Minsk originally. When I listed all the Announcements back in August, I swear I saw Pairs included in the Ice Star Announcement (a mistake that was corrected later?), but only singles and dance are included now.

How did ANL NOT know about the Shanghai Trophy????

is it new??

Medev score has me worried... Small entries but GREAT skaters in all disciplines.......

Its getting to be too much for ANL, keeping up with it all!

No idea how @Sylvia does it.

Does this mean that Dunk, Torgashev, and Izzo will all have byes to nationals with 3 fall internationals?

So the Georgian good Juniors are also doing Senior competitions this year. Probably then also the Europeans and Worlds. Bad news for the Finnish and German ice dancers.

Don't know. It's bad news for somebody, but Kazakova & Reviya don't usually get their pattern or footwork levels even in juniors. (And if you aren't getting them in juniors, you probably aren't getting them at a major international in seniors). So a team like Turkkila & Versluis could take them if T&K get healthy. On the other hand, Koch & Nuchtern were pretty clearly benefiting last season from bringing in the levels & they didn't do it at Nebelhorn. Leaving Fusar-Poli's camp . . . it's a big question as to whether K&N will be able to bring those in and/or to stay ahead of the other pretty close German teams. Nazarova & Nikitin are looking better this year also, and that's another country in the mix. It does seem pretty likely we will get some movement at Europeans.

The Finns and Germans are not getting their levels all the time either and a couple of Moscow born skaters training in Russia, from a new country, means a harder fight for the placements in Europeans and Worlds. It will be interesting to see how they do in their first senior competition.

"Could take them if" is exactly what I mean. Instead of trying to fight for better placements, they have a harder fight for keeping "their spot".

Nazarova/Nikitin and also Reed/Ambrulevicius look much better than last year so movement is likely.

What a pity. Luckily we have Orihara & Pirinen, the new dance team, and Jeni Saarinen and Sofia Sula in ladies. Will Linnea Ceder get a spot now?

I'm not sure how much of an impact K/R will have at seniors this season, since it seems to be pretty hard to switch between levels in ice dance. Different patterns for one, and also the top junior dancers tend to get big GOE and pretty because they are the best in their field, but often see that go down at first in seniors since they aren't near the top. I wouldn't be shocked if their scores are lower than their junior ones.

However, K/R have a higher PB than T/K and the Germans, so even if they aren't getting as high scores as in junior, they can still be in the mix with/beat those teams even this season.

Might hurt them at JW though, if they want to do both Euros and Worlds. There are only 5-6 weeks between Euros and JW, and presumably in that time they would still be training both senior and junior programs, since Worlds is only a couple of weeks after JW.

Vera Stolt has replaced Viveca, who's now listed as a substitute.
