Who’d have thought Ruiter wouldn’t make the free and that Schumacher would be 11th after the short.
It’s going to be very hard to move up based on the quality of the field but wow. Alison was lovely today.

Even if Allison does not move up to keep two spots for next year, at least maintaining her position would be helpful for JGP spots next year. Hopefully she can have a good free...as someone pointed out, she seems to be on every second competition so it would be good if that holds through the rest of this one.
Disappointing for Kaiya, but at least she didn’t seem to be devastated by it. It looked like she was trying too hard to be perfect, which is too bad. I think she would have made the free without the fall on the footwork.

There are a couple of skaters ahead of her who either are prone to UR or are very inconsistent, but both of those things also apply to Alison, so, yeah, it'll be a near-run thing either way.

I thought if there were 2 skaters and one didn't make the free, the other needed top 12 to keep two. Is that true for seniors or am I totally confused???

No, top twelve is if they both make the free.

In seniors, the total required is 28. You earn 16 points for not making the freeskate, so a top 12 finish is required.

Best ive seen her skate looks like 9th to finish? Excellent job ensuring spots for juniors next year. Nice Ruiter can just enjoy herself and get used to worlds as I'm sure she will have many in the future.

Seems Schumacher will be fractions of a point ahead of Pineault on the ISU season best list, who is just ahead of Bausback.

IMO Schumacher would have been a better bet for senior worlds over Bausback.
Schumacher has surprised me this season with her presentation. Improved choreo and use of arms. Now if only she’d smile once and a while. And this is being super picky but she needs a better makeup job.

Yes that is super picky and rude, seriously this is a sport not a beauty pageant and the girl is pretty and doesn’t need to cake on her makeup and look like a doll which some of the other skaters do

What is rude about saying she needs better makeup? It’s not different than people commenting on costumes, tights over boots, hairstyles, music choices etc which happens all the time. So sensitive. Related?

Just realized - she wasn't attempting a 7th triple in the free at Nationals, 4CCs or Jr Worlds. Was that the plan? Her 2axel3toe was nice. She really could have done 2 2axel3toes and 5 other triples for a total of 7 triples and 2 2axels within 7 passes. That's pretty much the standard now.
