Biles didn't used drugs for advantage. It's for her health. She declared it through Anti Doping Agency. You can actually declare that. What about Efimova? She used it because she wanted to win. She concealed it. And then got caught TWICE.

So nice try.

Russians are the biggest cheats on the planet. They cheat on drugs. They cheat with judges. They have a nation supported it. FACT.

Yes, Simone used drog from her early years for his health but that was very good for her physique. Look at her body! Yes, she used it legally but that is totally irrelevant because that is a huge advantage! I would compete such athletes separately, and the swimmers and cross-country skiers with asthma, too.
Interesting in my country ( I'm not Russian) don't use that drog for that illness as Simone has.

I love the combined relay. I'm very glad we will see it in the Olympics. Tons of room for strategy there.

Strategy is huge here. The GB team had to re-jig at the last moment as they were going to start with a man on the backstroke but he had a viral infection. Most teams have man first woman last with the 2nd and third being whoever is the better swimmer for breaststroke and butterfly.

Allezfred can be happy, Ledecky was second today and Sun Yang (who was also taking gold medals) didn't even make the podium in the men's 800m Freestyle (also a new olympic event)

Gabriele Detti won the 800m freestyle
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5uxh7i

Federica Pellegrini stuns the swimming world and won the 200m Freestyle with a very Pellegrini strategy coming from behind. Silver for Katie (her first ever medal non gold) and Emma McKeon

Race video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5uxama

Adam Peaty won the 50m Breaststroke as expected
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5uxrrr

Chad Le Clos upsets the hungarian crowd and took the 200m butterfly, he lead the race from the start and hold on the final 15 metres, Laszlo Cseh once again the runner up. Pre-favourite Tamas Kenderesi ended fourth

Race video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5uxhlh

Mixed Relay 4x100m Medley, the americans breaking the world record to take gold.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5uxl40

The semifinals of the men's 100m freestyle looked interesting, Caeleb Dressel and Nathan Adrian look strong but watch out for Mehdy Metella of France who can be the dark horse

I'm not bothered with who wins. It's just more interesting to see a race. :)

Well this one was certainly a race - with Pellegrini coming up to win in the last 25m or so. And I agree - when someone wins by 35m+ it isn't a race. At least the men's 800m was more of a race!!

Yes, Simone used drog from her early years for his health but that was very good for her physique ...

Simone has the physique of an African American that does gymnastics. It is not at all unusual to Americans that African Americans are the best athletes for whatever reason, but it seems like these Americans get extra crap when they compete in elitist international sports like tennis, gymnastics, etc. when they are, in fact, socio-economically disadvantaged at home. What have the Williams Sisters been called abroad? That's right, "brothers". What was Gabby Douglas called abroad? That's right, "The Flying Squirrel".

The way it's structured, 8 people receiving medals for the mixed medley relays will be the norm. Interesting to note Canada flipping the genders assigned to backstroke and freestyle from heats to final.

American men have been totally terrible outside of relays! Not one medal individually. This is worst championship ever for American men. The worst.

It's not shocking that Ledecky didn't win. A swimmer like her doesn't need College Swimming. She should have followed what Phelps, Lochte did. Never competed in College Swimming. Franklin suffered the same path and couldn't get her form back.

They still have Kalisz in the IMs, Dressel in freestyle/butterflies and Murphy in the 200m back.

Yes, I know. One of my collegies said he was a coach ( RIP Attila ) and he had an Olimpian athlete pupil in track and field: the afroamericans have gluteal muscles( very important for the running) because of the genetic but we need to work very hardly to build those muscles. This is not rassism plus they are beautiful!!!
I understand what you said about the afroamerican's hard way in elitist sports but finally they are among the biggest stars, thank god.
I know Simone would have been nothing without hard working.

They haven't won an individual gold yet. They've won several individual medals so far (Cordes, Grevers, Murphy, Haas). This is a rebuilding year for the U.S., but overall, I still think it's a better performance than 2011, when only Lochte, Phelps, and Clary won individual medals.

I'm right again.

2 Gold medals for USA men. One for Chase in the 200IM and Dressel in the 100m Freestyle.

There's no such thing as a rebuilding year in American swimming! Every year should be amazing and they should win many events and most medals and Today righted the ship. If they aren't winning tons of medals it's because of unforseen illness or injury only.

What??? Gimme a Break! are Worlds OVER?? Until Thursday, american men who have medaled: Kevin Cordes, Matt Grevers, Ryan Murphy, Townley Haas, FOUR

Add now: Caeleb Dressel, Nathan Adrian, Chase Kalisz so??? 7 men individually have won medals including Gold.

This session

Caeleb Dressel took the gold in the 100m Freestyle with an amazing swim: 47.17! new American Record, guy was so strong, Nathan Adrian Silver and Mettella from France 3rd. Cameron McEvoy defending champion, out of the medals unable to produce something for the australians who are having a very disappointing championships

Race video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5v1hx1

Chase Kalisz continuing the 200m Medley dominance for the american swimmers, Gold and defeating Olympic Champion Kosuke Hagino. The breaststroke leg was key for Chase who held on the freestyle to touch in first.

Race video http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5v1epq

Mireia Belmonte from Spain wining the 200m Butterfly, she is a solid swimmer on this event, Olympic Gold including and she adds another world tittle to her resume. Second medal of the meet. Franziska Hentke won the silver medal, first for Germany at Budapest and Katinka Hoszu bronze.

Race Video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5v1pw1

Etiene Medeiros from Brazil won the 50m Backstroke title, she was the favourite with Kylie Masse but since the canadian did not qualify to the final she took the prize

Race Video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5v22ew

Women's 4x200m Freestyle, Interesting battle from the start with the russians leading much of the race until the half, then it was China vs USA, but Katie Ledecky was on her A Game, motivated from the loss in the 200m free and close the race in the final 100 metres to add another gold for the americans. China with a very young and talented squad that will give a run for the money on this event in future Championships so USA watch out. Australia took the bronze.

I had to stop watching this on the BBC because the coverage was crap. Not even Mark Foster could save me the horrors of Helter Skelter. :scream:

Also the fact for the last part of the session they kept going to the Red Button.

Surprised to see GB win the 4x200 .

It was an all-russian session, incredible night for them, golds for Yuliya Efimova (200m Breaststroke) Evgeny Rilov 200m Backstroke) and Anton Chupkov (200m Breaststroke) among the Silver medal in the Men's 4x200m Free Relay

Jacob Pebley took the bronze INDIVIDUALLY for the US men in the 200 Back, Ryan Murphy the Silver, we can expect Ryan will go for the World Record once again in the backstroke leg of the Medley Relay to try to close this championships in a high note given his results, yes two medals but no Gold for him who was Triple Olympic Champ in 2016

Simone Manuel won the 100m Freestyle, defeating world record holder Sarah Sjostrom, incredible performance with new PB for the american. Pernille Blume of Denmark grabbed the bronze. No aussies in the podium after several championships making it.

Race Video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5v5xba

Great Britain retained the World Title in the 4x200m free relay, James Guy gave a fast last leg and closed the deal for the brits. Russia hold on for the silver medal and an unexperienced and young american quartet took the bronze medal.

Race Video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5v6b7p

I am very very impressed with Caeleb Dressel, the guy already won gold in the 100m freestyle with a 47.17 yesterday, then this friday had to do the heats for the 50m Free and the 100 Butterfly and what a times he posted not only in the prelims but also in the semis!! this two events are pure sprint in the water and Caeleb looked so strong, so poised, like not even tired after two days of grueling efforts

50m Freestyle: 21.29 an American Record, minutes later... 100m Butterfly Semis: 50.07 4th fastest ever

He is now the big favourite to take gold on both events, but question is if he does have enough in the tank to perform at this high lever for a third day in a row, glad this saturday he doesn't have to do any prelims.

Manuel did it again. Who cares if you have the WR if you can't even win the GOLD. Both Cate and Sarah (world class swimmers) couldn't deliver.

In the 200m Backstroke Semifinals, Emily Seebhom looked very strong posting a 2:05.81 time to lead into the Final to try to win Australia's first gold of the championships and retain her title from Kazan 2015.

But watch out for US Regan Smith just 15 years old, who set a New Junior World Record for the event with a 2:07.19 and looked as if she had more speed on her. Darya Ustinova of Russia also is one to watch since she can take some of the big momentum from Team Russia's performance on Friday.

Kylie Masse could add the 200 title to her 100 backstroke. A big race with no clear winner indeed. Katinka Hoszu could say a lot but she isn't looking that strong

Katinka Hosszú concentrates on the 400m medley already. Yes, she isn't so strong as she was in Rio.

Caeleb Dressel is going to be a huge star going into Tokyo. I would not be surprised at all to see him get the world record in the 50 and 100 free and the 100 fly over the next few years. The 100 fly record could fall today if he has the perfect race.

Shocked that Ryan Murphy didn't get gold in either backstroke race. After Rio i expected him to dominated over the next few years since he's not even close to being in his prime at 22. Also hope that Townley Haas keepsimproving and also becomes world class in the 400m freestyle but a silver in the 200m and he's only 20 so i expect him to be a monster in Tokoyo.

Big session this saturday, world records, near world records and we have our star of the championships

Sarah Sjostrom taking the World Record in the 50m Free Semis, 23.67!! also she took the gold in the 50m Butterfly previously, great performance for her.

Race video of the 50 free WR: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5va5kh
Race video 50 Butterfly Final: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5vaej6

Emily Seebohm finally got a gold medal for Australia, she defended her tittle too and of course she redeemed herself from her poor performance in Rio. This time she improved her PB and set a new National Record for the distance. One gold medal for the aussies but a disappointing performance for the team.

Race video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5va6sa

But we witnessed a tremendous performance from Caeleb Dressel who won 3 gold medals on the evening, 50 free with a 21.15 time (another American Record) then he was 49.86 in the 100 Fly, just .04 shy of the record from 2009 (suit era) that still belongs to Michael Phelps, Caeleb was effortless, I've only seen this kind of showing from Phelps in 2008. And later Dressel open the Mixed 4x100m Free Relay to another impressive 47 time, en route to a World Record for the americans in the distance.

50m Free: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5va3vr
100m Butterfly: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5va4in
Mixed 4x100m Free: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5vaao2

He is the unexpected star for this meet. Still only 20 years old and surely there is a bright future ahead for him. There will be 2 years until we see the world gathers again in another major championships, so time will tell how he manages until then.

Tomorrow he will be in the Medley Relay, probably the 100 Butterfly leg so he could en up with 7 Gold medals, historic performance but we have to take in count that two of his golds are from Mixed Relays that are relatively new events in the world championships' program

And last but not least, Katie Ledecky added the 800m Free Gold, she looked as if she was just half her effort, still enough to beat the rest of the field but 'only' a 8:12 time, chinese teenager was a not so far second place and Leah Smith took the bronze medal. Ledecky 5th gold medal and sixth overall in Budapest.

Looks like people who were worried what US male swimmer would take over for Michael Phelps and Lochte don't have to worry now. Everyone knew Caleb Dressel was a future star and it looks like he's arrived.

American fans were doubting him. He was supposed to have a breakout at the age of 17. But I guess Troy is doing a great job coaching him @ Florida.

Athletes need to progress at their own pace and not what people expect from them. Looks like he's figured it out in his own way.

Dressel was long on both the turn and the finish in the 100 fly; otherwise, I think he would have had the world record today. If he had swum his 50 fly semifinal race in the final, he'd be looking at 8 golds at this Worlds. It'll be interesting to see if he expands into any of the 200s before Tokyo - the U.S. could certainly use another strong leg on the 4x200 free relay. With the mixed relays, the potential is there for 6 or 7 golds in 2020.
