Fall 2024-Summer 2025 New/Returning/Streaming/TV Shows

When I was traveling earlier in the month, I saw a book called "Fake Skating" in the airport bookstore. It had a typical romance cover. I had never heard of it before. Has anyone read it?

I just finished Heated Rivalry thanks to a telegram fans channel and I was stunned, speechless, don't know what to say, maybe one of the best series I have ever seen in my life. I couldn't wait to search for the book The Long Game that follows where the series ends and things will get interesting indeed for Shane & Ilya

And yes, the phone talking while Ilya speaks his heart out in russian while Moonlight Sonata played in the background was pure cinema! outstanding from Connor to portrait act and project all that feeling speaking in perfect russian accent, just wow

Everything about it was brilliant. There’s so many layers to the characters, so many layers to the plot. And I’ve never seen such nicely written character development in a long time.

All the actors were brilliant .. most of these people should be nominated for Emmys and awards. The fact that Connor got the call eight days to play Ilya before they shot. He had to speak with a Russian dialect coach on the phone for eight days to learn to speak some Russian, and to get the dialect down, can you believe that? Until I googled him and learned, I think he is Canadian, I thought he was for sure Russian.

I prefer how Rachel Reid wrote heated rivalry series over Annie Proulx for Brokeback mountain. Both are good, but Rachael was really good.

Jacob Tierney did such a good job as a show runner, the writer and Director.

And all of this was done on a shoestring budget and two cameras.

Connor is actually from West Texas 😊

Episodes 5 and 6 really made up for what I thought was just an okay start to the series. Until then I had enjoyed Ep 3 the most with the secondary love story, but Ilya’s monologue in Ep 5 changed all that. And Ep 6 was simply brilliant.

Ilya appears in the other books in the series, too - I really recommend Role Model, in which he has an important role.

Connor Storrie is from Odessa, Texas. Hudson Williams is Canadian.

My understanding is that native Russian speakers can tell Storrie is not one, but he sounds very, very good.

I feel the same way. I almost gave up after episode 2, but I enjoyed episode 3 so decided to keep watching, since I had seen good things mentioned in this thread about episode 5. Glad I kept watching and now feel episodes 1 and 2 kind of had to be “bad” for character and story development.

Same here, I was not into the series immediately after watching episode 1 and just tuned in to episode 3 with Scott and Kip then I totally got into and wanted to see the next episodes, did not watch episode 2 and did after the season finale, like you mentioned first two were for context and character development with Shane and Ilya, I even hated Rozanov but Oh My what a surprising turning of events and emotions that I ended really liking him and appreciating his development until realizing he was the one that fell in love first and fell hard

Also, Dylan Moskovitch is in the show as a male singles skater. Killing it with a single axel! Just noticed him as I rewatch the series tonight.

Episode 5 is brilliant but episode 3 is the one I rewatch the most. I love Kip’s friend group so much. I hope to see more of Scott and Kip next season just to see what Elena, Maria, Shawn, Kyle and Kip’s dad are up to.
