It is a public event in the sense that anyone can buy a ticket. And I am a pastor, so don’t go at me about when it’s appropriate to pray denominational prayers.

It doesn't matter whether or not anyone can buy a ticket. There is absolutely nothing about this event that precludes any sort of religious prayer being offered during the course of the event. And just because you're a pastor doesn't make you the sole arbiter of whether or not what Scott said right, wrong, appropriate or inappropriate - clearly, the USFS and Monumental Sports see the situation differently than you.

Yes - and he's getting these names right. Kristi and Brian have struggled. A lot. Heck, Kristi even got Johnny's last name wrong - "Rear" - when she introduced him.

It’s not about it being a religious prayer. It is about who it includes and excludes. I didn’t say it was illegal. I just said I didn’t think it was appropriate and I stand by that. Scott got it wrong.
