2025 4CC - Pairs Free: “K. Pop”

A deserved win for Miura & Kihara, and I was impressed by Stellato-Dudek & Deschamps’ rally after an underwhelming short (and really, the season so far hasn’t been great for them).

The scoring of Pereira & Michaud versus Kam & O’Shea at this event was absurd. The latter have great qualities, no doubt, but ending up within two points in total score after so many mistakes across both programs is nonsense. Lia & Trennt had one of the best events of their careers here in terms of technical delivery, and they arguably have the two best-choreographed programs as well.

So McBeath/Parkman scored 165.76 at the Italy test event and USFS-favored team Shin/Nagy scored 128.36 here. What ridiculous and blatant shenanigans! The selection committee should be ashamed. :angryfire
I don't get why people are so pissy about this. Maybe M/P wanted to do the test event for all we know.

oh no everything in this sport is a conspiracy unless it happens to your faves then it's just fun

I did find it interesting that green/parsons were saying they thought it was nice to compete at Road to 26 because they were getting to skate in the actual olympic arena and it was helping them to really get centered on their goal of making the Olympic team

Finished watching the Pairs FS. Loved the podium. Kudos to Deanna and Maxime for fighting back ... not that I had any doubt they would do anything other than come out with guns blazing, which they did. Lia and Trennt did a lovely job. I felt sorry for Ellie and Danny ... I have such a soft spot for them. I was heartbroken for Audrey and Balazs ... always HATE to see that kind of skate happen. Pleasant surprise for me was the team of Nagaoka/Moriguchi ... I think they could go very far in this sport in the future.

And, then, of course, congrats to Riku and Ryuichi. Love them and they deserved this victory. But, they need to do some serious work between now and Worlds on their throws. Riku, dear, you just HAVE to get that free leg a LOT higher on the landings. And the ending where they were NOT facing the judges and their reaction when they realized what they'd done ... LOL. Ryuichi's wide-eyed expression in the K/C when he saw the scores come up was hilarious. I don't know what it is about him but there's something truly special about him ... I think it might be called "charisma."

Off to watch the Women's SPs now.

Well while you’re watching charisma, note Alysa Liu. That girl was just born with it.

Have they said so?

If they haven't said so, I am inclined to doubt that they didn't want to go to Worlds at least. They came in second and were not named to either the 4CCs or Worlds team. I find it hard to believe they are okay with that.

They weren't going to get Worlds and that's hardly the argument even being made by anyone.

K/O made the GPF and had the best results in the fall as well as having led the way last year. They had a Worlds ticket essentially stamped.

More than one poster has been in agony over the assignment to this event vs. 4CC, but we don't know whether M/P said they wanted to go or not. It wouldn't have been difficult to decline the ticket to Italy, as several other skaters ended up doing from other nations.
