2026 Olys Team Event PBP Day 2 - Will It Be YAYmoz? Or GO!GO!lev?

Yup, unless ChoBat eat something nasty during the break, that’s a lock. And Japan can’t beat any of the other teams.
Japan will probably make those points back in pairs. Obviously, that will depend on who skates pairs tomorrow but the U.S. probably needs to win either men’s or women’s to hold off Japan.

Sorry to be that person, but got back from birthday dinner after Gogo. Stuck watching NBC trio….but there’s a feed without commentary somewhere? Can’t find skating on RAI anywhere.
HBO Max has a Eurosport feed where you can choose the option without commentary.

Didn’t Ilia have a great warm up? I saw his final quad lutz triple toe on NBC right at the very end. It looked perfect. To me the pressure got to him a bit back stage waiting to skate last. It’s the biggest stage of his life so far and he has had microphones and publicity in his face big time. I think he is still the Ilia we know and love. Olympics do things to people’s heads sometimes. Hopefully he will recover his bearings. But if not he will surely medal, even if not gold, and plans on two more Olympics. Let’s not forget at the GPF he was third in the short and came roaring back to win by a large margin.

I’m very happy Canada made the final….and Gogo came through big time! And Yuma skated the best I’ve ever seen him skate. Really enjoyed that! But he is still not doing the hardest quads.

If G/P realize they’re not likely to get an individual medal, they should do the FD for the team. Canada won’t beat Italy for the bronze given women and pairs but try your best anyway.

I would love to believe the Italian pairs team is 100% healed, but we know by the wrap on her leg they aren't. I'm nervous for them for the free (both here and in the IE).

It's defs to late for them to suddenly appear for an event in 40 minutes. Canada would have had to have both teams there.
G/P are there....they were in the box cheering. But obviously looking like they wouldn't be skating. Just seems like a mistake to not try to maximize the points when it's so close.

I was rooting for France to qualify and for Georgia to do well but I'm not feeling too bothered; I'm pleased that firstly the judging was a bit more reflective of what happened and a really good skate from Gogo was rewarded, and also that we actually can't tell who is going to win all the medals for once! Definitely the best team event so far for that reason.

Hard to say since PerMich went back to their Gladiator FS but based on the fall season, KamO have skated scored significantly better in the FS than PerMich. Season averages for the three teams in question:

KamO - 125.35 - SB 133.63
ChanHowe - 120.57 - SB 123.58
PerMich - 120.10 - SB 123.22

Not that it matters, but ZingKol handily defeated DavSmo at Finlandia. I'm very confident that ZingKol would finish ahead of them in the TE FD if they were selected. And I'm pretty sure they'd beat LajLag, but it would be a closer battle.
But US pairs has the unlucky situation of having the better pairs team advance to team final. They could be last in the free

Sure, but ZingKol aren't losing to DavSmo and that's what you said, which I refuted.

Did not watch Kagiyama nor Malinin. Malinin looked a bit nervous ahead of time. I guess I was right...

Japan has been perfect, really. They couldn’t have been any better in the shorts. It’s the US who can improve. I just really hope the best team wins, and I don’t say that to be cliche, I really don’t want the sport hurt again by controversy.

I understand if Ilia sits out the free, but it will likely be silver for the US. Knowing Ilia, he probably wants to get out there and redeem himself. We will know in a few hours.

My main concern was that the pressure would REALLY get to Ilia and he'd do a 2018 Nathan Chen. Obviously, that didn't happen, and hopefully the nerves are now out and he'll fight in the long (I'm assuming USFS will want him to do it and he'll be willing).
