"Wedgie" stopped updating scores after Chock & Bates for quite a while.
My Firefox browser didn't like the Olympic site for a "security" issue. I had to open a Chrome window for the live scoring there. Now I'm set for the Pairs.
We are a diverse group in terms of what feed we are watching and with what commentary. I'm on CBC GEM with Brenda, Kurt & Carol for Dance but Sandra Bezic will be sitting in Carol's seat for the Pairs.

Managed to get my VPN working on the plane and watched a bit. Happy for Madi and Evan and enjoyed Lilah and Lewis more here than on Sheffield, they oddly felt less nervy but who knows how it was in the arena
This puts Lilah and Lewis as medal contenders for sure. 🥳
Though the pressure was off them here, they might be more nervous in the individual.

@victorskid are you going to post results after each event?

I’m excited but super nervous for them now! 😅 I wasn’t expecting them to do this well. I think they have a small chance but only if they are as clean as they can possibly be.
FWIW, I think they have a more crowd-pleasing FD than GilPoir and that will carry them to bronze as long as they don't tighten up the way they did at Euros. Same goes for ChoBat - both programs build to a stronger end that will get the audience on their feet in a way that neither GilPoir nor FBCiz's quieter, more introspective programs do.

I still think this pairs short program, and maybe even by extension the pairs free is the one that is going to make or break it for both the USA/JPN gold medal race and the ITA/GEO bronze medal race. There are 4 teams in this short program that could probably come away with the 10 points. The order is going to matter tremendously.

Yup and Sui/Han are in a position to play spoiler for any of those teams' medal hopes. We'll see if Wenjing can stand at the end of the SP today.

I see for the team event, the judging is mostly based on "my vibes are better than your vibes". :drama:
The scores at the top are very close. Chock/Bates SqTw GOE too high, Fournier Beaudry/Cizeron MiSt GOE sus for me.

I think it’ll likely be same story of Chock/Bates coming out on top of the RD in the individual, but this lead is not enough to win cumulatively. Barring major mistakes the French are OGM.

I think they pretty much have Bronze in the bag as long as they don't have some sort of major mistake.

I think ChoBat win the RD and FBCiz win the FD and who wins depends on how much of a gap there is after the RD.

@Sylvia Since there are three events in this thread, I wasn't planning to add to the overlapping commentary with the "reality" of scores :)
The important thing at the end of the day will be the team standings.

I would love to see ChtWoz skate this SP clean at least once during the Olympics. When they go clean, it's one of my favorite pairs programs of this Olympic cycle.

I was asking about overall, not in the RD.

Winning one segment at the GPF didn't convince me they'd be ahead in the team event.
They didn't face off before that this season. Gilles and Poirier were pushing Chock and Bates in the FD at Worlds and comfortably second there.

Morning, all. I was going to try to sleep in a bit after a hectic work week, and catch up later, but I woke up regardless and thought I might as well join in!
