CBC Sports’ Anastasia Bucsis chats with Jason (17 mins.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo_My0mbiyQ
... and he gets candid about life. He shares some of the trials and tribulations of being known as the “Riverdance” guy, his story about coming out of the closet and his first date with a man. Plus he breaks down some of the adversity he has faced being a figure skater and competing.
This interviewed was filmed at the Cricket Club in early September 2025.

Poor Jason. It sounds like the free skate shocked him, which I take to mean that his training and practices had been going fine. And now he has lost some trust in himself. I know he has a good team around him and he will get the support he deserves.
He has been working with a sports psychologist since he was 9. I'm sure that Tracey is a great source of support and he is very close to his family. I hope he learned a lot from the last time he didn't make the Olympic team. He is beloved by so many fans, and I'm sure he'll feel that love on the SOI tour.

It sounded like he was landing the 3 axel in practices, but not within the program run-throughs - at least at the official practices. I'm guessing that falling on the initial axel in the free, and then popping the next attempt just took him completely out of his head...

I'm glad something good came out of Jason going to Nationals. I think he has visited about 25 different Ronald McDonald Houses over the past year. Before he left St. Louis, he brought them a huge haul of stuffed animals and spent time with some of the kids:

According to this post, Jason's goal was to visit RMHC programs this season and St. Louis was #26:
We were honored to welcome U.S. Olympic figure skater and longtime RMHC supporter Jason Brown and his family to our Grove House following the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
As part of his goal to visit 26 RMHC programs, RMHC St. Louis marked Jason’s final stop. During his visit, Jason toured the House, assisted Chef Matt in preparing dinner for families, and thoughtfully set out stuffed animals in the dining room for children and families to enjoy.
We are grateful for Jason’s continued support and the meaningful time he spent with our families. 💛
ETA: Yes, my original "26" got deleted when I was copying-and-pasting "RMHC programs" into my sentence above. ;).

Not quite this season. He's been doing work with RMHC for many years, but in late 2024 he set a goal to visit 26 more Ronald McDonald Houses by the 2026 Olympic Games, and this was #26. Almost every competition, tour stop, show, vacation location, etc., he has visited a local RMH. In addition to that, he and others at the Cricket Club regularly help out the Toronto RMH. He's constantly posting about RMH on his Instagram account. He raises awareness for them, plays with kids, rolls up his sleeves in the kitchen, brings stuffed animals, etc.

Revisiting this post-2018 Nationals article in the NYT Magazine's Olympic Issue by Patricia Lockwood (March 6, 2018):
Excerpt from the end:
“Nothing is easy about this moment, but I’m proud of my fight,” Brown tweeted of his first-alternate status, adding words of encouragement for his teammates. [...]
I began to replay the broadcast and felt different timelines running alongside me like tracks on the ice, one for each man’s hope. [...] In this one Jason Brown goes, slicing brightly through a parallel universe where the quad doesn’t hold sway and everyone is standing, stamping, breathing white clouds with him, just wishing that it might go on. It is not possible to exist in this feeling all the time. This is not one of our capabilities — but look, the body says, lifting up into its improbable upper air, look, I’m doing it. Here is my world, for just one minute. It’s this way, and you’re living in it.

I would bet 2026 Big Macs that Sylvia fully intended from the beginning to write "visit 26 RMHC programs this season"; that it was merely a typo that she accidentally omitted the "26" from her post; and that Sylvia has been posting for many years about Jason's longstanding and admirable commitment to hands-on support of RMHC.

I was reassured to see video/photos of Jason once again bringing joy (and gifts and more) to a local program.
Especially in St. Louis after a tough competition, I hope that it was another uplifting visit for him.
