Too many hand-to-chest moves.

Awww, she's crestfallen.

That said, I won't mind if Mone is the leader of the Japanese team after Kaori says goodbye.

Lovely skating, and I don't even mind the second R&J or the day.

 Such uncharacteristic splats from Mone. Bye bye medal. Gave up on presentation for almost the rest of the program until the steps.

Interesting. The judges did put it (barely) behind Nakai in the free skate, which is what I would have done (but didn't think they would do). Still enough overall.

ITA with Tony's comments and do think she needs to bring something new for the Olympics.
Another SB program that comes in low overall (3rd instead of 4th but still). She needs to do something. Either give us Gaga or rework this to score better. Otherwise, she is depending on mistakes from others.

That stab in the heart had real feeling to it
Another program with boring music.

Gaga isn't going to matter when you have others trying and landing triple Axels and Kaori Sakamoto's usual model of consistency. She's always going to depend on mistakes from others.

Wow. I'm surprised that Mone actually did wind up behind Amber overall.

Personally, I'm happy at this result because I've always thought Mone was overmarked & was scared, heading into the Olympics, that she'd be a big favorite, but this should temper expectations (assuming she makes the Japanese team).

Oh wow... Alysa really is just such a gracious, natural star. Bring on NBC's insufferable marketing.

Awww, Nakai, missed opportunity. Hope this gives her confidence that she can compete for any title.
