Strong skate, but left the door open with the single Axel. Nice to see her have a good skate for her final international event in Japan.

Both Amber and Kaori have boring FSs this season. They are both my favorite so that makes me sad.

Well, with the error of the 1a, I'd probably put this behind Amber, but that's not going to happen because we're in Japan.

3Lze plus I'd review the loop plus the second-to-last combo spin (and the last, too, but I think that's OK).

Given Glenn's score, though, I can't complain if Sakamoto also gets the same vibes-based calling.

ETA: I do think Sakamoto deserves to be ahead of Glenn based on GOE (tech) + speed and flow (PCS).

Kaori has looked amazing this whole comp. Other than the singled axel mistake another good skate. She seemed very gassed by the end though. Final spins not up to her norm.

Kaori was fabulous. Of course the flutz was a full e but that won't ever happen. Single Axel, okay 2 points lost there. Everything else sticking at level 4.

Kaori is such a gorgeous skater! I kind of feel like this FS (and last year's too) just doesn't really feel like her vibe. What happened to 'I am a Woman' powerful Kaori?

I had to go look this up, because I was sure the ISU had equalised the flip and lutz value, but clearly I've not been paying attention, because they did that in 2020 and I totally missed they'd since changed it back.

I think it only applies for a pairs throw jump?

I don't think that ever happened, though. It was scheduled to with 2020 announcements IIRC but then they suspended those changes before any event happened and reverted back to the old rules.

Jump effort is crazy for Watanabe. She really has to muscle through a lot of them but wow.That loop is getting << most likely and it's a jump she can do sleeping.

There was one 3A+3T she did in practice at Skate America that was off the charts perfect. And it's crazy because her combos usually have this weird twisting into the toe loop. Not this one.

Reviews should drop Rinka behind Kaori - but she'll stay ahead of Amber, I'm sure. This program isn't nearly as interesting as her SP and still ends with a terrible whimper.

I was wondering if Glenn might end up last even with a "clean" skate, but I think the 3Lo<< from Watanable might prevent that. I'm almost sure her first 3A will be <, too. Glenn will probably still end up last overall, though.

Pretty good skate for Rinka. Good to get both the triple Axels out in competition even if both not fully rotated.
