Mouaden/Bigot

Crisp technique, much more performance during step sequence than the average junior team, rhumba only a level 1 and looked nervy, good danceability

Kruk/Eisenhaber

twizzle trouble from her, pattern slower and smaller, some nice energy and commitment to the program

Aboian/Veselukhin

striking movement, excellent synchronization through patterns and hitting the key points (4 on rhumba, 2 on quickstep) performing with confidence, masterful interpretation of the Vogue concept, should lead

Abo/Ves looked much faster and smoother in the patterns today. Into 1st by 4 1/2 points! Unfortunately I didn't wake up in time for Mou/Big -- will have to catch them later.

Mark just talked about the time he had to dress up as a dancing hippo, and that image is going to haunt me for a while.

Bianchi/Basile

nice flow through the rhumba level 2, level 3 on quick step, they are very light on their feet, level 3 on twizzles, could put more feeling into their presentation

If Mouaden/Bigot finish in second place here, they need to score at least 78.23 in FD to win the (13) + (13) = 26 tiebreak with Anderson/Dawson for the last JGPF qualifier spot.

Kalaganis/Deveu

He's in referee shirt and she's in skating dress with a sports number on hip, wobbly from her on twizzles, JGP debut and still in early stages of development

After 2 of 3 groups we have an ice resurfacing.

RD results so far:
1 Hana Maria ABOIAN / Daniil VESELUKHIN USA 66.70 37.00 29.70 7.50 7.44 7.38 0.00 #4

Mark and Ted note that their choreographers were Smart, Dieck, and Saulius A. (don't ask me to spell it at this hour). Cute program in the vein of Laj/Lag's sports-themed RD.

Slatter/Gregory

Her edges are clearly stronger than his, negotiated the lift well especially since they got somewhat close to the boards, they have a nice look together, great potential for the future

Ashlie looks her usual cheerful, confident self; Louis looks nervous most of the time. He needs to work on his posture too. I think he's still getting used to the height difference.

Lavazza/Meunier

careful through the twizzles, negative GOE on patterns, Man I Feel Like a Woman into Blue--not quite sure how those go together other than that they're both upbeat 90s songs, rotational lift moved well across the ice

Gao/Ji

messy through the twizzles, push-ups on ice in midline steps, what hath F/G wrought? both are quite engaged with the program and the music

Fugate/Fugate

so much good country music in the 90s and Cotton Eyed Joe was chosen :slinkaway she lost some levels on twizzles, decent speed, negative GOE on patterns, think they could extend more and finish the movements, fun program

After all 3 groups, the RD results:

The skating was a bit rough, and the choreography is a bit paint by number, and the performance didn't live up to the energy of Shania Twain.

43.63 = 10th Place

Enjoyable performance quality, and a couple that 's easy to watch, but a mistake like that on an element is so costly.
