Skate to Milano OWG Qualifier - Beijing CHN - Women's SP & FS

It's a better performance and fit for her than the short IMO. I think the GOE was high, but the spins were nice. I wish she would be pushed to develop more artistically, but clearly the judges don't care.

And I have to run as I have an event to get to :)

Can I seduce you into a piece of strawberry cake? :EVILLE:
It's a strawberry smoothie, dammit! Or a strawberry parfait! Or something.

Someday, I want Shcherbakova to come live in the West and drop the real tea on whether or not she refrigerated any strawberry confection for Valieva during that train trip from Moscow to St Petersburg in December 2021.

Much better skate today for Hendrickx, but the program is her usual, and not particularly interesting or entertaining.

204.96 = 1st Place

Very strong skate for Gubanova today, and held the emotions of the music throughout the performance

Solid technical skate with a couple of tight jumps, probably due to nerves. Adeliia has a nice style, line, and finish to her performance but the program was flat.

140.91 = 1st Place
209.63 = 1st Place

Most happy about Leona and her choices today were right on. She has a bit of the Ashley problem - so busy performing she flubs an element or two. Ashley did best when she toned it down a little. And so has Leona. With this success on the elments she can go back and find another 10 points!

Well, as I think I said earlier, I think if she would’ve turned that double into a triple it would’ve been enough of a difference to win the free.

And now she vanishes for 4 months while skaters like Hendrix and gubanova are everywhere! I’d much rather be a loser who can be everywhere than a winner who must vanish

Is Safanova AIN for Belarus?

Yeah, I guess so. I admit when she first started I thought she's Russian and was confused about their obvious decline, but then I remembered she looks familiar and I think I've actually seen her live at Nebelhorn. Her height and look is sort of very cool, but she doesn't use it well.

I'm happy for Leona and Gubanova, didn't expect such good shape from both of them!

Petrosian reminded me of Madeline Schizas, but I think it's the combination of the music and look.

Adelia’s posture is much better than Schizas, I could tell the difference if they were skating with masks. I wish Petrosian had another coach and choreographer.

Oh, she is. Born in Moscow. She switched to BLR when she was a teenager.

Catching up from overnight to watch the top three on replay. Petrosian is fine technically but Danny G choreo is eh. She didn’t emote but I’ll give her a pass given the stressful circumstances. I wouldn’t have given her the win in the free. Nevertheless, I can see her winning a medal, even the gold, in Milano.

Gubanova had the performance of the event! Having watched her implode in Boston, it’s so good to see her back, skating better than she has in a couple of seasons.

Hendricks was ok. Very glad she skated well but it was clear that the focus was on the tech. Will reserve judgment on the program until the GPs.
