I know. But this is the first time I've seen TBDs in this table. Before, the USFS did not list names until they were confirmed for this season. Or am I not remembering things correctly?

They did it last year for the JGP assignments for both the men & women.

JGP Abu Dhabi assignments are out on the ISU website - nothing listed on the USFS website yet.

Men - Kazanecki
Women - Higase-Chen*, Samiri*
Ice Dance - Aboian/Veselukhin, Fugate/Fugate

Have to presume that the women listed are placeholders (I'll be shocked if Higase-Chen gets a 2nd JGP after her FS in Varese).

Also, the JGP Gdansk men's entries have been updated with Nicholas Brooks listed as the 2nd US man now (Kazanecki had originally been listed, but with the Abu Dhabi assignments published, it seems pretty clear the USFS wants to give Lucius & Patrick separate assignments). Presumably Brooks is also a placeholder, but FWIW, I'd probably give both Brooks & Fegan a 2nd JGP. Their scores in Varese this past weekend are a good 10 points higher than what any other US man has scored domestically.

I suspect that Fugate/Fugate may have to wait until Calhoun/Zheltyshev skate in JGP AZE to see whether they get the UAE spot or C/Z get assigned a second event.

That's my guess as well, but who knows what the USFS is planning.

Odd that Brooks was moved from AZE, which has an easier field, to the absolute bloodbath of POL. Instead, USFS is (provisionally) sending two newbies to AZE Usually, you'd rather send one contender and one for-the-experience skater when you have two spots, and you'd definitely try to send your stronger skaters to weaker fields. The only advantage I see of sending Brooks to Poland is that the competition will be a much better preview of what competing in Jr. Worlds would be like, and perhaps USFS wants to see how he handles the pressure of a deep field.

We honestly don't know if Brooks has been assigned to Poland or not - what we know is that Kazanecki has been moved to Abu Dhabi on the ISU entries list. The USFS still hasn't updated their assignments page to show who is filling any of the TBD spots - 2 men & 1 women each at Baku & Gdansk. They also still have not even added the Abu Dhabi assignments.
