2025 US Club & NQS Competitions

NQS: Potomac Memorial Open (8/15-8/17) - Ashburn, VA

Some impressions from the competitions that I saw:

-Jr Women: Sofia Bezkorovaiyaya stood out. Was also impressed by Melania Belcic. Madison Chong had beautiful jumps.
-Jr Men: Patrick Blackwell has energetic and exciting programs for both SP and FS. Aleksandr Fegan's spins to the FS music were a perfect fit.
-Sr. Men: I was worried when Lucius Kazanecki missed the 3A twice during FS warm-up, but he managed to hold it during the competition, along with the quads. He and his coach were both very calm.
-Juvenile Girls (only watched group B): Elli Beatrice Malinina (Liza) used her whole body to express the music very well. Was also impressed by Jiayi Liu and Claire Bang.

Skate Detroit Update:
Jack Zimmerman (son of John Zimmerman and Silvia Fontana) won Juvenile boys. Skating a wonderful program to Gladiator, he landed a 2A+1A+2L sequence and a solo 2A. Jack turned 9 earlier this month. He has the charisma of both his parents!
