I'm really curious about how the University of Denver (6500 undergraduates, another 3000 or so grad students in professional programs) is competing so well against schools with enormously larger student bodies, endowments and athletic budgets.

I was SO rooting for Clemson to pull the upset earlier tonight but it was not meant to be. Bummer for them but they have SO much promise for a team only in their second year! :cheer:

So far, the regional competitions today have had a few more surprises than the ones yesterday (holy Arizona!). Here are the final results:

Washington Regional
Arizona
Missouri
Oklahoma
Auburn :cheer:

Alabama Regional
Oregon State
Florida
Alabama
Cal

Regional finals start tomorrow! :cheer:

Seriously. When we moved to Denver ~2015 we were amazed to discover the school had the #1 NCAA lacrosse team as well as a top hockey team. It was also shortly after this when the gymnastics team started making a name for itself and we happily started attending events for all three teams.

I am BEYOND gutted for Auburn to miss out on going to nationals by one freaking tenth of a point. What a heartbreaking way for this last regional to end. :wuzrobbed

Final Bracket
Semifinal #1
LSU
Utah
UCLA
Michigan State

Semifinal #2
Oklahoma
Missouri
Florida
Alabama

I am going to keep it to myself who I am rooting for in this particular nationals bracket but I have to admit that this weekend has been exhausting as a fan of this sport. There's been a lot of really good gymnastics which has been great but there's also been a lot of  scoring that has left me scratching my head or rolling my eyes. We'll see what happens next but hopefully all these teams bring their A games because it's gonna take a LOT to win the national title this year.

Just catching up, but they’ve GOT to do something about 10.0, especially on vault. There needs to be a landing deduction if the upper body is past the gymnast’s toes, even when they don’t move their feet.

Any quick hits or reports from podium training? We get started with semi #1 in less than an hour!

As long as UCLA is one of the two teams that gets to the final on Saturday, I really don't care which of the other three teams goes there with them from this second semifinal, LOL :p (Tonight just can't be the last time we see Brooklyn Moors' gorgeous FX routine :wuzrobbed )

That first semifinal was insane! I did not expect it to be that close at all.

I missed seeing the first session because I thought these were tomorrow. Probably going to miss out on some of the drama by knowing who wins before I watch it. Ah well.

I'm so sad for Jade. She's been so great all season. I would have loved to see her get this. On the other side, Grace McCallum really had the meet of her life, though!

Do they do podiums at NCAA? I remember at NCAA meets they'd like weirdly do them down to like 6th or something.

I don't have strong feelings about the teams, so I was defs rooting for chaos, and that was pretty chaotic!

What amazing meets! If MSU could have bottled their beam from Big 10s or even regionals they would have made it, but they should be proud.

The 2nd semi was crazy.

I feel bad for Jade too. That stupid vault hurt so many athletes today!

I think they do results down to 8th here but don't quote me on that one. I'm not 100% sure but I feel like I've seen that in the past.

@Theatregirl1122 someone on reddit posted a combined score sheet published by LSU. I can't link to it as I got the link to the google doc off the college gym fans group on FB.

Very pleased with individual winners (especially Hu and Moors!) and looking forward to Saturday! So excited for Mizzou qualifying for the first time.

Clemson announced they’ve parted ways with Amy Smith in what’s the shortest press release ever written. I’m sure it’s got to do with her prior allegations of abuse but I’d be interested in how it all went down. They recognized a ton of “seniors” at senior night who had graduated but some of them have multiple years of eligibility left. It’s been a blast cheering the team on the past 2 years but I definitely had my reservations about Smith. Hopefully they can snag someone solid and continue to build on the foundation that’s been set. I’d have to think it’s a pretty desirable job? Good facilities, good funding, enthusiastic fan base.

As was I. I’m spoiled by usually having ISU live scoring, and when there is none, some kind soul always posts a link.

I found the individual ones without a problem. I wanted combined, which, as it turns out, didn't exits. Thus I could not find it. LOL.

Paid for one month of ESPN+ tonight so I could watch the men. I am a little worried that Michigan might have left it all out there a little too much. Although just as I was worrying about that, they decided to fall ON RINGS. Who falls on rings???

I am going to keep my comments about judging in today's women's meet to myself, but I am SO super proud of the Bruins for their amazing season. No one expected them to be in this final today so I am just over the moon for them. Ugh, I'm gonna miss way too many of those seniors though! :wuzrobbed (Congrats to Missouri too....they did a very respectable job today and should be super proud of themselves! :respec: )

And if I hear KJ Kindler talk anymore about being underdogs or redemption after today, I am going to fly to OK and show her pictures of ACTUAL women's gym teams who are truly underdogs and have gone through WAY more hardships than her team has ever gone through since she took over that program.

Aaargh. My recording of the men’s final cut off at the start of the 6th rotation. Off to find the archive.

Alas! It was so exiting!

I was so happy for Michigan. I really thought they had given it away going into the second to last rotation with vault and PBars to go for Stanford while they had to have RINGS. And then Stanford was great on vault. With this being Paul's senior year, I especially wanted it for them.

Man, you can say what you want about Fred Richard, but he has been absolutely CLUTCH for the team in the last year. His routines just got better as the stakes got higher. He ended up top 6 in every event. Paul was also great, save the uncharacteristic mistake on pommel horse. Can't believe he finished 2nd in the AA even with the fall.

We also had some specialists do some really great work to help us over the line. The whole team really came through.
