Hey. I say the US, CAN and Italians.

The Brits lost a touch of momentum, so I don't think they will medal.

And while CAN #2 has the most momentum, I don't think the judges are going to put 2 CAN teams on the podium.

The French have some momentum, but probably not enough to podium

IMO I think "who places 4 - 6" is a much more interesting question than the medalists -- along with more interesting dances. Hoping Lopareva and Turkilla maintain their momentum from Europeans.
They won't. Those scores were way out of line with what they'd been receiving in the fall, and TurkVers dropped back to their previous range at Road to 26 Trophy last month. Plus, no French or Finnish judge on the panel in Boston.

There was no French judge in the FD at Euros, either. But anyways, having one's own country judge really does nothing because if they go over the top, those scores obviously get thrown out. And while we are on that topic, the Finn judge had T/V 4th in the FD while Netherlands, Hungary, and Italy all had them 2nd or higher.

So I know people envision this mass gathering of the judges where everything is determined ahead of time, but we have Fear & Gibson with two Grand Prix wins this year and major mistakes from all of the top 3 leading teams. Saying they will or won't is pointless. Not everyone is Jean Senft.

Not the Jean Senft slander! 🤣

I do believe there is a pro-Montreal bloc. Instead of the old school Ice Wars "USA vs. the World" we're now in an "IAM vs. the World" in dance judging.

I don't see the Italians beating the Americans (although it will be closer with the Canadians)
I was about to say which Canadians because G/F's FD score at the GPF wasn't too far ahead of LaLa or Fear/Gibson. Not that I think G//F won't medal, but I think 3-5 will be closer in points than ever providing they all skate well.

It seems clear that FSU believes it will be Chock&Bates, Gilles&Poirier and Guignard&Fabbri (in any order) ! lol

I mean, it does seem to be a natural presumption. But honestly, like we saw at the GPF, none of the presumed top three can make a major flub in the RD.

Do we know who the tech panel is yet? I'm sure between @AngieNikodinovLove (ANL) and @tony their fax machine will be busy Friday and Saturday.

Canada, USA, Italy for the podium.

The placements behind the podium are more interesting. The judges draw for Worlds seems to be more beneficial to IAM compared to the one for Euros. I suppose the possibility of Taschlerovi placing in the top 10 is pretty weak, but hope dies last and so on. The one thing I desperately need and want from these Worlds is two Olympic spots for the Czech ice dancers. I can deal with any other disappointment, but not with Czechia losing their second spot for dance. :drama:

As long as either the Taschlerovi or Mrazkovi finish 12th & the other team makes the FD, then two Olympic spots will be guaranteed.
I'm really curious as to where both French teams finish in Boston. The FFSG's statement when the FBCiz partnership was announced wasn't a particularly ringing endorsement of either LopBri or DemLeM's longterm potential. I side with the folks in the French news thread who think both teams' upward trajectory has been dealt a hard blow. That's another reason why I strongly believe we're going to see a reversion to mean for LopBri's scores and they're back to battling with 3-4 other teams for the 6-9 spots - CarPon, TurkVers, ReedAmbru & SmaDie.

And then there's another battle for the 10-15 spots - DavSmo, Taschlerovi, DemLeM, GreenP, PiriHara & Mrazkovi - with the possibility that JvRStef or LimQuan pushing into the lower part of that group if one or more of those six teams have errors.

This being Ice Dance, I expect the usual suspects to take the medals, but I would love to see Lopareva & Brissaud finish on the podium instead. I have several reasons for wanting it to happen, but the shock value alone would be sufficient.

Yeah, the French are an interesting pair (as most French skaters are). A certain je ne sais quoi ...

I'd be happy to see them medal, but realistically I see zero chance of it happening with their own fed tossing them under the bus for Cizeron. And IAM will spend their most political capital trying to keep the title in their camp.

Yup, IAM isn't going to waste political capital on them right now.

c/b, g/p and the italians have this one sewn up. ice dance. YAWN.

my ideal podium would be c/b, c/p and the finns (love g/p but their program and HIS costume this season are unbearable).

You were heard and I agree, except for one thing, his costume is everything. I am here for it today and will be trying to see if he’ll donate it to me in two weeks.

Lopareva/Brissaud defying both IAM's and their own Federation's politicking would be incredibly amusing. That's why I don't think it's ever going to happen. Ice Dance Judges can be incredible buzzkillers.

Thought I saw on social media that FB-S & C are being coached by Lambiel, is this true? I'm guessing IAM is not a fan of this new partnership decision playing spoiler by perhaps messing with their status quo ranked teams for this Olympic cycle, not to mention possible hard feelings of all parties involved, re past partners, Fed politics, the Country change issues, etc., also who would have been their main Mtl IAM coach Patch, Marie, or Roman (C/B,La/La, L/B, F/G,R/A, S/D, D/S, etc.,) so it might make sense, if the move to Lambiel is true?
