Sure, but given the way both CAN & JPN have had less-than-stellar/clean skates all season, I'd say one needs to factor that into one's predictions & bet on the one with more feck-ups fecking up again in Boston & relinquishing a podium spot to ITA.
Been thinking this way, too

hoping the Germans can get the gold cause then we can go into the Olympics with three world champions battling for medals.
the Georgians can put some real pressure on the top pairs this next season, would luv to see them on the podium.
my long shot for the Worlds podium would be Lia and Trennt. :)

We could have three world champions battling for the medals if ConMac win in Boston too. Just sayin'...

I think this will be 1 Ger, 2 Can, 3 Jpn.

The Germans look so sharp and clean this season.

Deanna and Max have been really sloppy all season but they'll probably get the job done.

Riku's inconsistency with jumps is going to hurt the Japanese team.

Sara and Nicco are the heir apparent to a medal if someone above falters.

Georgians are also in the mix with screwups from others.

I’m not happy with my third pick but figure it is going to happen. :blah:

I'm going with a repeat of last year's medallists, but likely in a different order. Though I'd love to see Conti & Macii skate well enough to secure a medal to obtain a third pair for the Olympics.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I really thought Hasse and Volodin had and should've had it -- even with their sketchy closing lift. IMO, this was less glaring than the more numerous and more visible (to my eye, anyway) little errors that Miura & Kihara had -- particularly that second 2Axel from her. It was clearly two-footed and underrorated, but when I saw that they had won the title nonetheless I knew that the technical specialist didn't call the carrot. Just checked the protocols now and confirmed.

Well done by the US pairs hitting the magic 13! Of course, question remains whether Efimova can get her US citizenship by then. Highly doubt it, so I think it is prudent for the USFSA to assign its other age eligible teams to events in the Fall to gain required minima and the necessary international experience.

Your thoughts...

I agree. After HV's stellar performance and standing ovation it was kind of anticlimactic for the Japanese to win, but I'm confident HV will come back even stronger next season.

With US pairs I think I'm just gonna sit back and watch. There are so many unknowns with their pairs: injuries, new partnerships, citizenship issues... I agree that the prudent thing is to push their pairs with citizenship but with Efimova still claiming she has a path to citizenship in time for the Olympics it's hard to foresee what USFS might do. No matter what happens, E/M have their well-deserved Grand Prix spots and will be able to further their career with or without the Olympics.

I agree with you as well. All I think I can think of is that the Japanese team is much faster.

Count me as someone else who though the title belonged to H/V. I'm also in the minority in regard to the JPN team. I feel indifferent watching them and I feel that there are certain skaters / teams who are sacrosanct on FSU; I feel you are almost not allowed to dislike them.

I’ve never seen Miura/Kihara live — or at least since they became competitive — but from most descriptions here and in commentary, they are very fast and have huge ice coverage. There was something lacking for me in their movement quality and spacing together, though, but I can’t remember a Marcotte team that had the kind of unison and spacial awareness that truly great teams have. Until the SP, where, for a moment, I thought I was watching Sui/Han reborn. Then it was business as usual in the FS, which made it that much more disappointing to me that they won. It wasn’t like they had a Kagiyama-like advantage after the SP.
