The Dance Hall 12: Boston Tea Dance Party

This article (in Czech) says that the Mrazeks had to change their music because the composers didn't want it used.

Ouch. Anyone care to translate or gift?

Hopefully the handstand at the boards is gone. Might make it all worth it.

Wrong thread, but understandable.

Popping in here to say that Marie-France better get her judges in line or Boston's gonna be reallllly interesting.
The judging panel was a bit odd, since there weren't as many IAM judges as usual. I only counted two: GBR and FRA. Maybe three if you count the German judge for Tim Dieck.

I think there's room for the standard pecking order that we've sort of settled into being disrupted in ways that affect the dynamic in Montreal.

I didn't watch but I think I read in the PBP thread that Lilah messed up her twizzles? F/G are 1 point back from L/B. A clean FD could put them ahead.

25-26 RD news from an ID reporter at Europeans:

The ISU legal team is still working on the music copyright issues for the Olympic season. The final decision is expected to be announced during Boston Worlds.
So now it is still "21st Century dance party", and unfortunately the alternative is not classical as rumored, but "1990s Music" (1990-1999).

Ugh, that actually might be worse than the 21st century dance party theme. However, 5+ GOE for any team that skates to riot grrrl music.

I would 100% be down for a 1990s music theme over the 21st century theme.

Peak grunge, diva power ballads, boy bands, Christina & Britney, best country music - there is SO much to choose from.

All I ask is the IDTC give us a damn waltz for the pattern steps!

It's true that the 1990s was a super diverse decade in music. But we know the skaters are only going to choose from about 13 different songs. ;) I believe The Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" is partially in Waltz time. I wonder what the Golden Waltz would like look to that song?

I think that's just about the best retirement announcement I've ever read. He's a very good writer, and it comes across as truly sincere.

I'n not a sentimental person at all but found this post really touching, particularly with great photos to illustrate.

It's such a nice reminder of how much skaters sacrifice and dedicate themselves even if they're not anywhere near the medal podium. I recognize sport is sport and everyone's eyes are on the prize but Tim is a reminder of why I watch the early groups and celebrate the skaters for whom qualifying for a free program is already a victory.

Hush. We may be cynical and know what the '80s and '50s-'60s-'70s themes have brought us, but hope springs eternal.

Perhaps we should start an anonymous IG/X/BlueSky/TikTok account called "Don't Pick the Same 13 Songs, Ice Dancers!" and throw up suggestions, lol.

1990s themed RD? Disappointing, but at the same time I can't be too upset about it since the 1990s were my teenager years. I still remember buying Bravo every week and reading articles about my favorite boyband while listening to music on my walkman.
