3) Juda 14.100
4) Bock 14.000
5) Young 13.950

Top 5 men using highest score from Champs & Trials
1) Nedoroscik 15.40
2) Young 15.00
3) Juda 14.25
4) Malone 14.10
5) Bock 14.10

ETA - the #6 guy on PH is Walker and he's not making a case for himself on any other apparatus so it's really a "why bother?" They're gonna have to use a junk score in most all likelihood.

so you’ve got the auto qualifier first. If the athlete who has the highest combined four day total is also in the top 3 apparatuses, they automatically qualify and 4 remaining gymnasts are Selected using the math. If not, all 5 are selected using the math.

  • There are two data sets. One averaging the best 3 out of 4 from each athlete and one averaging all 4 from each athlete. (No highest score, trials only, etc)
  • They create the top 5 scoring teams in the 5-3-3 format for each data set.
    • If there is an auto qualifier, only teams with that person are considered.
    • Any team that can’t field 4 gymnasts on every apparatus is eliminated unless it’s 0.5 points higher than the next highest.
  • If the highest scoring team in the two data sets are the same, that team is AUTOMATICALLY SELECTED with no discussion.
  • If the highest from the two data sets are separated by more than two points, the highest of the two is automatically selected.
If neither happens, it goes to discretion, with factors that can be considered including:
  • Trials only scores
  • Total team d score
  • International experience
  • Results from other competitions

Interestingly, injury petitions are allowed for men.

That average score for Stephen is gonna go a long way. You’re bound to take two people with a point or more lower than him, and almost everyone has had a disaster score as it is.

I said it at Nationals and tried to convince myself out of it, but he probably still offers the most if they are looking at overall scoring potential. One event risk, of course it’s a different story.

stop saying all this!

It’s honestly wild that, after all of that, the women’s procedure is just the person with the highest four day score makes it and the committee gets to do whatever they want for the rest.

The biggest tea thing is that if the highest scoring team with both the best three day out of four and four day averages, they have to choose that team. If he’s on it, they have no choice.

So in contention:
Fredrick Richard (lock)
Brody Malone
Asher Hong
Khoi Young
Yul Mouldaur
Shane Wiskus
Paul Juda
Stephen Nedoroscik

Anyone else?
