Marie Dupayage/Thomas Nabais

Time to bump this thread back up! Dupayage/Nabais had a strong start to their season with 185.87 for second place at French Masters. Their new programs look great!

They are indeed. :swoon:
They are competing in Kazakhstan next week.
I hope we'll get better videos.

Ben Agosto on D/N's revamped RD:
DUPAYAGE/NABAIS - FRAI really enjoy their skating quality, but this RD felt confusing. Could not identify the style of dance, costumes did not help give context. Very far apart in PSt dance holds. 2nd half 60s section felt really cohesive.64.03 into 2nd#GPFRA

I agree with him. @Nmsis, if you have Arribert's ear, please ask her to put it back the way it was! I'm afraid the change is going to backfire on them.

Apart from advising her not to answer THE french troll (the one who trolls every ISU ice dance comp chats on Youtube, who was insulting Tessa Virtue a few tears back and is currently harrassing Loicia Demougeot on all the videos of her programs), I don't.

I'm afraid the change is going to backfire on them.

And I'm afraid I disagree.
First because I luuuuurve Love Is All. Some of the biggest rock artists doing an album for kids. :swoon: It's my early childhood. :swoon:That videoclip - triple heart with glitter - was broadcasted on french tv each time there was a technical problem in the late 70s/early 80s.
Second because by their themes, voices and style, the 2 rock songs echo one another. A man who merrily chants at the top of his lungs that love is all and a woman whose voice and lyrics say that the reality of love is something else. It's a rework, not a random association.

Problems are :
  • the choreo has changed extensively. The program is fresh and needs mileage.
  • the old costumes don't fit the new overall theme at all. It needs more "flower power meets pain/revolt"
  • Arribert had no choice but to make the changes. She had feedback from the Denis Ten Memorial. Just before Nice, she said on Ice Radio that she was in "la grosse mouisasse" (deep s...cheiße) for making the non consensual choice in the RDs and that the only way to dig herself and her senior teams out of it was to work their backside off.

Much stronger performance of the RD today from Marie and Thomas at Sofia Trophy, and a season's best (69.75). They're currently in 3rd.

Congratulations to them on winning bronze today (even though Thomas blew his twizzles)!
