I disagree. I don't think Davis/Smolkin are anywhere near Pate/Bye's skill level. Pate/Bye skate with way more speed. Both partners are equally matched and equally skilled (whereas Smolkin is doing most of the work in the Davis/Smolkin partnership). Pate's edges are far deeper and more secure than are Davis's edges. Pate has much, much better extension through her limbs and especially through her feet (she has wonderful turn-out) than Davis does. Davis/Smolkin use clever choreography that has Smolkin dragging Davis around and putting her in the correct positions, while Pate can achieve these positions on her own.
I would have agreed a season or two ago, but this season p/b's skating skills look worse for some reason. And the choreography they've been given, while not as bad as d/s, is making them look choppy. Their progressives get very little push, and I thought her edges and turns look noticeably weaker. I will agree Pate's extension is better though.

Orihara & Pirinen are totally exceeding any expectations I initially had for them.
They’ve graduated from my favorite “guilty pleasure” team to the team I most look forward to watching so far this season. I love both programs and find Orihara to be such a refreshingly giddy performer. At the end of each program, it’s clear she had a blast just dancing. And Pirinen, IMO, has taken a step forward within this Chicago program.

Denis Ten Memorial entries are out. Watch out for ice dance fans spontaneously combusting at the combination of Davis/Smolkin and the always-generous panels in Kazakhstan.

Janse van Rensburg/Steffan and Orihara/Pirinen likely to round out the podium, with plenty of teams in search of minimums filling out the field, and confirmation that PinPog are doing a split season again.

No Nauryzova/Datiev so I guess that confirms they aren't competing this season. Seems like the writing was on the wall when Kati Muller teamed up with Zanni and co and N/D stayed in Almaty but also a bit disappointing; they had some of the most interesting programmes of the lower skilled teams.

They are in the provisional entry list for NRW Trophy

Here is @nicolecalderariii and @murer.cristian. We are really excited to make our first post as a couple and announce our partnership.
We will skate our first season together in the category Senior, representing Switzerland. We train in Milano with the great team #teamfusarpoli. Our journey started in January 2023 and we can’t wait to compete this season.
Both last competed in junior ice dance in the 2021-22 season.
Nicole previously competed with Marco Cilli for Italy: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00107292.htm
Cristian previously competed with Elina Bacsa for SUI: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00111151.htm

Hopefully Smart and Dieck can place top 10 and qualify another team.
Perhaps in the future if they continue at least until the next Olympics, but most likely not this season. Top 10 are going to be three Canadian teams (I am pretty sure that Lajoie/Lagha's first score this season was an anomaly), at least two US teams, Guignard/Fabbri, Fear/Gibson, and the three remaining places between Davis/Smolkin, the third US team, Reed/Ambrulevicius, Turkkila/Versluis, Taschlerova/Taschler and maybe Lopareva/Brissaud as outsiders.

Maybe not Worlds but Euros seems a definite possibility - GuiFab, FearGib, TurkVer, ReedAmbru, DavSmo, Taschlers, LopBri and 8-10 btwn Mrazeks, KazRev, SmaDie, JvRStef, DemLeM, and OriPir?

Yes, you are right about Euros - it is certainly possible. I thought only about Worlds.

It's early days still, but I'd favour Smart/Dieck for top ten at Euros. Out of that third pack of teams - out of everyone, really - they have one of the strongest RDs and are already scoring well with it, and while I don't think their FD works as well conceptually I'm expecting them to have at least tidied up the execution a bit with another three months of skating together by Euros. OTOH, they're probably also the most likely to make a big error and tumble down the standings.

I LURVE their FD...very tongue in cheek....

First tech panel of the GP season: Christine Hurth as TC, Julia Rey and Sergei Baranov as TSs.
It is the seasonal debut for Hurth this season.
Rey was at Autumn Classic and JGP Budapest (as TC. She is the only one who is qualified as both ISU TC and TS).
Baranov hasn't called this season yet and skipped last season too. In 2021/22 he was in the technical panel for some of the most-overstored events of the season (Warsaw Cup,Denis Ten Memorial, the B competitions in Belarus where almost everyone get the minimum TES).
The 2 "extra" judges (on top of the 7 from the countries with ID entries) are Azerbjian and Germany (both already on site for Single or Pairs and also qualified for Ice Dance).

Season starts to get serious for the teams desperately searching for World minimums with the beginning of the B competitions. Who will pick the "right" (as the most overscored) one?

They are in the provisional entry list for NRW Trophy
Withdrew now.

Some news here. It appears Cirisano has paired up either Paschetnik, who previously skated with Nekrassov. I only hope the best for them. Krylova is their coach. Saw this on Instagram.
Ok. But do they fit physically? He's on the smallervside. Isn't she a whole lotta woman for him? I pray Krylova doesn't damage her psyche....And Nekrasov will train with Vasilisa on the same ice with his previous partner? Asking for clarity....why is it taking so long to sort out Vasilisa's new partner? I think it was obvious she had outgrown her previous partner both ideologically and physically....hmm...

I am still not digging Chock and Bates RD lets hope FD is super. My fav rds are Smar/Dias, Zan/Kol and FB/Sor. The first part of Gre/Par is cool but the second part seemed rough....

That is a worry for Me as well. Saw them practice together on Instagram, and they looked OK. And yep. Krylova has an obsession with female body shape. Anyways, I will play the " wait and see" game

Mezzaluna Cup confirms its reputation of giving good levels on the steps. Well, Kika was on the panel again.

The raise of TES minimum for Worlds (to 35 in RD and 52 in the FD) impacted, among others (from countries with other options), the following teams:

Both teams representing Azerbjian (both missing the new RD minimum)
Shilling/Baeten (Belgium) (missing the new minimums in both segments)
Nauryzova/Datiev (Kazakhstan) (missing the new RD minimum)
Ippolito/Russell (Latvia)(missing the new RD minimum)
Ramanauskaite/Kizala (Lithuania)(missing the new minimums in both segments)
Both Dutch teams (both missing the new RD minimum)

Jakucs/Galli (Netherlands) scored 36.36 in Mezzaluna Cup. So Netherlands is in.
Compared to last season, Sweden also got over the minimums with newcomer Reitan/Majorov.
