Fakes on Prime sounds interesting but it's in Farzi. I already have a really long list of shows I want to see but need to read subtitles. If anyone is watching it let me know if it's worth adding to that list.

Why are they being so mean to Canadians?? I don’t share my account with anyone, but I definitely use it outside my home. I have a private office located in one of those co-working spaces. I have a couch and tv in there so will have Netflix on a lot. If they do that in US I’ll cancel out of principle. I’ve had Netflix for almost 20 years, but streaming services were cool when it allowed me to cut the cable bill. With all the new ones that exist it’s getting just as expensive!
According to my "research" yesterday Netflix tested this out in Latin America and now they are on to next stage which is Canada, Spain, Portugal(iirc) and New Zealand. Lucky us.
But I understand the plan is to cover all countries at some point. There must be some strategy here as to how they pick places. I guess Canada is the guinea pig for North America and Portugal/Spain the guinea pig for Europe etc...?

What is going to be interesting for me is to see what they do to my account because I am the primary account holder but it seems only the girls, who are in Canada, are getting the messages when they log on. I think I will just play chicken as long as I can to see who gives in first :D

I’m a binge watcher, so if they do this I’ll just cancel and come back for one month and catch up on all the shows. Need to actually do this for all the streaming platforms cause it’s getting expensive! And that’s even with me getting some for free from credit card benefits and AT&T.

That's what my girls said. They will just get a 1 month subscription and binge the shows they want to see. I mean we probably spend more time complaining there is nothing good on or waiting for the next series anyway :D

To answer why Canada, I imagine our smaller population makes for a good test market. Yay. :P

My brother who uses my account will be out of luck it seems. It’ll be interesting to see if the gamble that people will get their own Netflix subscriptions succeeds. Or if they keep them year round. If it was just me (I live with my parents and my mother’s a daily user) I definitely wouldn’t be subscribing over the winter when I’m too busy with skating, NCAA gym etc. to watch anyway.

Speaking of TV, I need a recommendation for something to watch. If it’s a comedy or in the comedy spectrum, I won’t watch it. It doesn’t matter how good it is. Lol.

I like crime/police/fbi type dramas and procedurals but don’t necessarily need cookie cutter ones. I just watched season 1 on Quantico and enjoyed but I’m not in the headspace for season (I’m 4-5 episodes in), but I’ll come back to it at some point to finish the series. So, something gritty is good, but a good ship isn’t bad either.

Bonus points if it’s something that is a handful of seasons long (I really don’t want 10 seasons) and no longer on the air. I have access to Netflix, Hulu, hbomax, Amazon, and paramount at the moment.

IF you liked CSI, the first season of CSI: Vegas is pretty good. I haven't seen the second season but honestly, it sounds dumb and it features one of my least favorite characters on top of it.

Interestingly enough, CSI is one of the few shows I’ve never been able to watch. I’ve tried and can’t. Not sure why. My husband has suggested it as something to watch and i can’t make it past episode 2.

Need a recommendation for a German or French TV Show (preferably something not too smart, a drama or a crime) with English subtitles on youtube or something perfectly legal (using a work computer to watch, can't install anything shady).
Thoughts?

What's with so many people publicly stating that they have been cheating Netflix for years and now that Netflix has decided that everyone should have to pay for what they are using...these people are all in a huff? It's one thing to lie, cheat or steal. It's another to get angry when someone says you have lied, cheated or stolen. But to get angry when at the person who says it's wrong and that you must stop? What a lot of whackjobs out there!!

It's not cheating. Netflix allowed it. Now they are changing the rules. People always get upset when the rules change and you have to pay more for less.

Given that one of their changes is to charge more for 1080p and even more for 4k, please tell me how I was cheating because I watched Netflix on my 4k tv.

Have you watched Mindhunter on Netflix?

Women at War (Les Combattantes in French) on Netflix - WW1 story following 4 women of various background living close to the trenches and how they in their own way supported the war effort.
(Almost same cast was also in The Bonfire of Destiny - which should still be on Netflix too)

The following are comedies - which you didn’t list but might interest other people
The Hookup Plan (Plan Coeur in French) (Netflix) - best friends hire hooker to help their GF get over a break up but he has to pretend he fell in love with her. Prob selling it very badly but was very funny
Off the hook (detox in French) (Netflix) - two mobile phones addict have to give up their phones for 2 months.
Weekend Family (Disney+) - dad who shares custody with ex wife introduce his new GF from Quebec to his 3 daughters.

That one came up in a search yesterday so maybe I’ll give it a try.

I might also (finally) give Homeland a try but we’ll see. I’ve come across a lot of things I’d like to watch, but they’re not available on any streaming platforms and I’m not really looking to buy anything (forget subscribing, outright purchasing) at the moment.

I also really liked Absentia though it was very stressful to watch.

The first couple of seasons of Homeland were amazing but it wasn’t sustained throughout the series.

Have you seen Line of Duty? A multiple seasons British show about the investigations of different corrupt police inspectors. It very well done and the acting is top notch, so much so that I had to stop after series 4 or 5 because the subject matter made me too angry.

I finally got around to Little Women on Netflix. It's described as a Korean reimagining of Luisa May Alcott's book but must be very loosely based on it from what I'm actually watching. The three sisters are battling poverty but mom and dad don't help them by running up gambling debts and abandoning them. They face off against one of the nation's richest families after trying to expose scandals. There's embezzlement, possibly blackmail and people dying.

It took me a while to start watching this because I thought I would need the time to read subtitles. It is dubbed in English so it's a lot easier to do my normal multi-tasking. I am only one episode in but it kept me interested enough to wonder who's on what side, who knows what and what is actually going on. I am hoping the rest of the series keeps up with my hopes from episode 1.

I'm in the middle of that one. I started watching it a month or two ago and got sidetracked by skating and other shows. I plan to go back to it.
Kind of intense, but not in a way that impels me to binge from one episode to the next.

Just started on ABC but Will Trent is fairly good with a nice gritty backstory for two of the main characters. Would likely be better (edgier) if not on network TV. It would be on Hulu but not many episodes yet.
