Gold & Silver most likely. Bronze? I would bet on political pull from ISU/JapanFed to feed into Project KanaDai getting some momentum this fall… assuming no glaring errors in twizzles or dropping partner.
Oh don't worry, if it's not Marina politicking for KanaDai it sure won't ne JSF

And they FINALLY crossed Ryabova out for NHK, lol. NHK has 3 Koreans & Americans in addition to their 3 Japanese women, so this might be Kiibus' best chance at getting a 2nd assignment. There are exactly 10 women left on the entire alternates list who aren't Japanese, Korean or American, lol. But, just watch, they'll invite Schumacher or Serna.

Women - 1 open spot at NHK
Kiibus (Espoo)
Yun (SkAm)
Wi (NHK)
Park (SkAm)
Yokoi (SCI)
Kitromilis (SkAm)
Paganini (MKJW)
Izzo (MKJW)
Ziegler (none)
Brezinova (SCI)

Next to be added:
Ji (NHK)
Zhu (SkAm)
Serna (GPdF)
Wang (none)
Sauter (MKJW)
Peltonen (Espoo)
Saarinen (Espoo)
Schumacher (SCI)
Watanabe (none)

And still no place for Rinka Watanabe? Not that I want anybody to become indisposed…but perhaps Rika Kihira will take time off to properly heal, opting out of her two assignments (Canada and Finland)?

It doesn't work that way.

1) Challenger winners are placed at the very bottom of the alternates list, so she won't make it onto the Top 10 Alternates list for consideration by a host until/unless currently assigned skaters withdraw from another 9 assignments.

2) Japan is maxed out at SCI, GPdF, NHK, and Espoo, so those 9 withdrawals would need to be either from SkAm, MKJW or one of the currently assigned Japanese women at SCI, GPdF, NHK or Espoo.

So, the chances of Watanabe getting a GP assignment are almost zero in the first place, and even if she DID wind up on the the Top 10 Alternates list for consideration, she still isn't likely to be any host organizers choice because, hello, she just beat the reigning WC and she has a 3A. She is going to have to fight and claw her way onto the GP next season, but don't hold your breath on it this season.

Oh, I just knew that you’d slam me down with The Rules, LOL! Was waiting for it. 😉

Seriously, though. Rules aside (for a minute)…just look at that roster and see who got two (2) assignments…yet the skater who beat the current World Champ one week ago can’t go? And Rinka’s win at Lombardia was not a miraculous Kitromilis/2021AutumnTrophy type of win. And it wasn’t just by one or two points either.

So where is she? She was so phenomenal last week how come she’s nowhere on the list? Did she not have enough points gathered from being in juniors? Or how could she be so far down the list. And I’m also unfamiliar with her before this year. So did she just pop out of nowhere

What is the USA waiting for to decide on its final men’s host spot? And who is there to choose from anymore at the moment? Any chance we could get Matt Savoie in there 😘

And also our last host spot in pairs? We are just under a month until they have to travel to the event

Japan didn't send any skaters out on the JGP last season, because of travel & quarantine restrictions, and they didn't send any skaters to the early Challengers either for the same reason, which makes it hard for a skater like Watanabe, who wasn't even competitive domestically the last few seasons, to even get on the 2020-21 SB Top 75 list, which would have made her eligible for any assignments.

As it is, it's the beginning of a new quad, so she has plenty of time to get GP assignments and build up her rep before Milano 2026.

Men and Women’s host spots have already been announced, a few weeks ago - Eric Sjoberg and Gracie Gold. Pairs is, unofficially, Plazas/Fernandez. They were the the top US team without a GP assignment at John Nicks Pairs Challenge and US Classic last week, and their coach, Jim Peterson, had an IG post announcing they had been assigned to SkAm, but it's not confirmed on the USFS' International Assignments page yet.

Well, she did just win a Challenger, so that puts her at the bottom of the alternates list... I'm not sure how likely it is for her to wind up with one though since there would have to be about 10 spots open up in order for her to make it onto the Alternates Top 10 list.
Women - 1 open spot at MKJW, 1 open spot at NHK, FRA TBD @GPdF
Kiibus (Espoo)
Yun (SkAm)

Not for her since she's a US citizen, and it would surprise me for him since they were training in the US before they moved to IAM last year.
Saul moved to the US in 2014 to skate with American Taylor Tran for Lithuania. I can't believe it's a visa issue.

Laurin / Ethier now assigned to Skate America.

Pairs grid
Well, now, that's an interesting twist. Theory being that any team that competes in a Challenger and earns the total score minimum will be added to the Pairs alternates list since there are only 3 teams currently eligible for selection from last season's SB Top 75 list.

Which would mean Mokhova/Mokhov and Wessenberg/Eisenach are also now on the list (if I'm remembering the GP minimum correctly).

Why not? Visas are only good for a certain amount of time. Once it expired then then you would have to get a new one and right now it’s a long wait to get them updated and renewed

Yes, the pairs total score minimum is 132.65. The GP selection document states that Challenger winners are added to the bottom of the alternates list, so going with that same logic, in order to increase the pairs alternates list they are adding all pairs teams who meet the total score minimum at US Classic, Nebelhorn or Finlandia to the bottom of the alternates list, highest score to lowest score.

Pairs - 1 CAN TBD @SCI
1) Holichenko/Darenskiy UKR (55) (Espoo)
2) Chernyshova/Windsor AUS (60) (NHK)
3) Crafoord/Crafoord SWE (63) (SkAm)
4) Plazas/Fernandez USA 166.25 (SkAm)
5) Mokhova/Mokhov USA 161.29 (none)
6) Laurin/Ethier CAN 150.81 (SkAm & SCI)
7) Wessenberg/Eisenach 138.22 USA (none)

Teams that do not have the Total Score Minimum for GP assignments but are scheduled to compete at Nebelhorn or Finlandia:
8) Vaipan-Law/Digby GBR (64) 132.56 (MKJW host spot - Finlandia)
9) Osipova/Epstein NED (69) 119.00 (Nebelhorn - scored 149.24 at non-CS Lombardia)
10) Simioli/Zarbo ITA (75) - not competing this season
11) Piegad/Strekalin FRA (Nebelhorn)
12) Efimova/Blommaert GER (Nebelhorn)
13) Valesi/Piazza ITA (Nebelhorn - scored 151.42 at non-CS Lombardia)
14) Yunoki/Ichihashi JPN (Nebelhorn)
15) Gamez/Korovin PHI (Finlandia)

Announced today (Sept. 23) by USFS:
Team USA's roster for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2022 is set after the final two athletes have been selected for 2022 Skate America.
In addition to Gracie Gold in women's and Lorraine McNamara and Anton Spiridonov in ice dance, Eric Sjoberg and Valentina Plazas and Maximiliano Fernandez have been added to the Skate America lineup in men's and pairs, respectively.
