I remember seeing her as one of the stepsisters (I think with a creaking knee) in "Cinderella" in glorious black and white years ago. And in so many programs after that....she had quite a career and could do anything. If I was to be an actor I'd want a history like hers. RIP

Yep. That's was my first thought. We had a color t.v. by then though! My neighborhood friends used to come over to watch Batman IN COLOR.

Here is an article from nearly a decade ago which describes her long career (even then) and her association with a Richmond area theater company through her great friendship with its longtime production team. The article mentions her playing Falstaff, a male role, on Broadway and the great reviews that she received for her performance from someone as tough as Frank Rich, the legendary New York times theater critic.

We were the last family on the block to get a color tv. So when the Wizard of Oz came on tv one year, we watched it at a friend's and when Dorothy comes out of her house and into Oz in full color, our MINDS WERE BLOWN!

Same here ... the first time us kids saw Wizard of Oz in color, we thought it so great that my dad (who hadn't seen it in color since he saw it in a theater in 1939) promptly bought a color set.

Anyone besides me remember a song called "Georgy Girl" by an Australian group called "The Seeker"? Their lead singer, Judith Durham, has died:

May her name be for a blessing.

Virginia Patton Moss—not a familiar name but one of the last living actors from “It’s A Wonderful Life” died on the 21st at 97. She played Harry Bailey’s wife, Ruth Dakin Bailey. RIP. I think ZuZu is still lives.

RIP Barbara Ehrenreich: Ever the intrepid journalist she decided to work at Walmart, as a hotel maid, nursing home aid, waitress among other jobs for her 2001 book: “Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America.” She wrote many books and essays but this book hastened the call for living wages for all workers.

This was a brave woman. She had a very promising Hollywood career but traveled to DC to protest McCarthyism and paid the price. She was never accused of being a Communist—she went to support her colleagues who were accused. She could have remained silent but she spoke up. RIP
