You took more pain than just postinglol - yup, I just snarked on a Fanyu in there!
lol - last night there was one person I wound up muting/blocking because she was defaulting to the lamest critique when she had no logical argument against points anyone else was making - trying to imply that I'm the classic "Karen" meme and nothing more. Y'all know me here - I'm more than happy to live up to the memes, but I don't tolerate lame attacks. You took more pain than just posting

Maybe I should have snarked that Mao retired 8 years ago...At least Ilia won't be bombing because of holes
The Japan TV revenue being due to One Skater as was being QRTed is also laughable.
Small coffee table + long queue?I never got why they need this much coffee - it's seemed to me to be obvious code for "lobbying".
He's obviously a huge draw. But he didn't draw up the Japan media contracts, nor is there any guarantee he'll be around competing the next couple of seasons, for us to magically imagine the 2022-24 budgeted income for Asian TV is because of him. Not even getting to what percentages mean for those Asian figures to "fall" after he retires, but moving on.Don't get me wrong, Yuzu is a huge draw in Japan and we all know it, but he's hardly the first nor will he be the last great Japanese skater to put people in the seats and eyes on the TV.
I thought they were talking about start order within their group. i.e., if someone prefers to go first in the group, and they are first after the SP, they have earned the right to do that.Edit: Thinking about this more, I also wonder how this proposal would affect attendance? Fanyus are the worst offenders by far, but a lot of fans in general only come for the last couple of groups. If all the top names went first, it would start full but the stands would empty quick. If the skaters were randomized among groups, it may keep the stands more consistently full.
That's what I thought also - that it was just that the whomever was ranked highest after the SP/RD, they got to pick their starting spot for the FS/FD. So, for example, Pap/Ciz would have picked their starting spot for the FD, then Hub/Don and so on until the 5th place team from the final group was left to start in whichever spot was left.I thought they were talking about start order within their group. i.e., if someone prefers to go first in the group, and they are first after the SP, they have earned the right to do that.
Personally, I prefer reverse order though.
Probably politer in the majority of represented cultures to call it a coffee break rather than a pee break.I never got why they need this much coffee - it's seemed to me to be obvious code for "lobbying".
Missed it, who is this?Papa Boris
Boris Chait - Galit's dad and head of the Israeli fed.Missed it, who is this?
Yes, that's exactly it.Crap. Rejected. But Russian skaters are still banned due to earlier rule?
They aren't speaking out against it completely. Just not in favor of raising it to 17 right now. They want to wait until the next Congress or even the next Olympics. They're fine with raising it to 16. And, the other person who spoke (Hungary or Norway?) about the impact on pairs isn't wrong.Very disappointing to hear the U.S. speak against this proposal.![]()
Lots of countries spoke up in support of the proposal as is, including Susanna Rakhamo and US Speed.Well Ireland and Iceland spoke up against the fake concern of it affecting "small fed skaters".
Right, but Ireland and Iceland being small feds themselves was good and showed it was fake concern. I think we're definitely going to increase the age limit, but right now I think it will be to 16 as a compromise, just so the entire thing doesn't get rejected. But I hope we get 17.Lots of countries spoke up in support of the proposal as is, including Susanna Rakhamo and US Speed.
I guess it depends on what the feds who say they're in support of the age increase, but only to 16, will do if the amendment for that fails. Will they vote in favor of the increase as proposed or torpedo the whole thing?Right, but Ireland and Iceland being small feds themselves was good and showed it was fake concern.
