I just don't get why they are releasing tickets this way... it's annoying. Are they going to release even better seats or are those all presold
What is the difference between a VIP ticket and category gold?
I am still having one hell of a time booking tickets. It keeps telling me I can't. Damn Ticketmaster. I usually buy at the box office but I have never been to an event outside the US before.
Not yet. The French Fed did share on their IG today their official Worlds team members - https://www.instagram.com/p/CaE2tz8oohg/?utm_medium=copy_linkIs there any place where skaters planning to go to Worlds are compiled? I know it's a bit premature but I'm aware that some announcements have been made. Trying to see if I should try and travel to see this live.
No? I just bought some carre or tickets they released last week? Are they no longer available? There were a bunch of seats in the middle..l I can still see they have one section for sale. But the way they release the tickets is quite bizarreSo is the FD actually sold out (other than some 240€ VIP tickets) or will they be releasing more? Any idea? Asking for some friends (luckily I already bought mine a few weeks ago).
Not yet in one place on FSU - here's a partial list on wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_World_Figure_Skating_ChampionshipsIs there any place where skaters planning to go to Worlds are compiled?
How likely do we think Hanyu and Chen attending worlds will be?Not yet in one place on FSU - here's a partial list on wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_World_Figure_Skating_Championships
Entries officially are due "not later than Monday, February 28, 2022 – 20:00 h, local time" - it's not uncommon after an Olympics for some skaters/teams initially assigned to Worlds to change their minds.

…
Pretty unlikely. How likely do we think Hanyu and Chen attending worlds will be?
Well, Russia had already withdrawn from the event citing travel challenges, but they only won one medal in speed skating at the Olympics, so I'm guessing it's not nearly the blow to their national psyche to miss out on Speed Skating Worlds as it would be to miss out on Figure Skating Worlds.Cross-posting. I wonder what will happen with the World Figure Skating Championships. It appears that there will not be Russians at the World Speed Skating Championships. Not because of the ISU, though.
World Speed Skating Championships host Norway wants Russia and Belarus barred

They can still fly to Istanbul as well as to Tblisi, Baku, Yerevan, and other points south/southeast. They might not be able to fly directly from Moscow or St Petersburg to France but there are still options.EU has cancelled all air traffic from Russia, so I can't imagine Russian skaters flying out of Russia will be at the Worlds in 3 weeks
Not if their visas are cancelled. Which they ought to be, if the ISU won't find its guts and ban them from attending. They can still fly to Istanbul as well as to Tblisi, Baku, Yerevan, and other points south/southeast. I didn't say that it was a game of "how can we get Russian skaters to Worlds" but pointing out that there were still ways for them to travel, somewhat circuitously, if their travel visas aren't cancelled or the ISU won't can't find it's spine for all the bending over to Russia that it's constantly doing. Not if their visas are cancelled. Which they ought to be, if the ISU won't find its guts and ban them from attending.
It's not a game of 'How can we get Russian skaters to Worlds despite the fact that their nation is waging a war of conquest on another ISU member', for crying out loud. Sanctions may not do much, but every tiny message sent helps.
Absolutely! I’m annoyed that the ISU hasn’t done this already.I hate to penalise the skaters but this is a case where banning Russian and Belarusian skaters from taking part in worlds should happen to be in line with what most sports are doing.
If that is the case then the CAS is going to be pretty overwhelmed by all the cases that will come before them from every athlete who is going to be upset that they were not allowed to compete from all the sports where bans are happening. It is not just figure skating.Look, I'm in no way saying that it's right for Russian or Belarusian skaters to be allowed to participate in the various ISU World Championships coming up in the next 6 weeks, especially the ones being held after the Paralympics end and the general Olympic truce period is over, however unless the IOC calls for a complete ban on those athletes, I suspect that many international feds are going to run up against CAS appeals by athletes from those countries. So, at this point, their hands might be tied (unless they have the stomach to litigate with CAS). I'd bet that many within the ISU are secretly hoping that either the Russian & Belarusian skating feds bow out gracefully (fat chance) or host nations rescind active visas and/or refuse to approve new visas.
Agree. Also should ban their coaches, team officials, tech panel members, judges. Even Old Lakernik himself.I hate to penalise the skaters but this is a case where banning Russian and Belarusian skaters from taking part in worlds should happen to be in line with what most sports are doing.
