U.S. Men 2021-22 season news & updates

So heartbreaking for him. I guess things like this were bound to happen this time around, but it still seems
shocking somehow. Hopefully everyone else can stay covid free.

Sending big hugs to Vincent though. I hope after this disappointment wears off that he will be very proud of the silver medal that he earned with his team.

The worst news….so beyond awful. All the hard work and sacrifice Vincent put in day after day, year after year to skate at the Olympics. I thought he had a shot at a medal. I’ll miss seeing his gorgeous “Vincent” free program tonight so much. Very glad he got to skate in the team event and get a silver medal.

I'm just so sad for him. I have to wonder if he'll take a couple of seasons off and attempt a comeback for Milano-Cortina. I could see him throwing himself into college and finishing his undergrad degree in 3 years then come back to competitive skating in the 2024-25 season. Somehow, I feel he is in no way done now that the individual event has been snatched from him.

I will miss seeing his Vincent program, too. Vincent definitely had a good shot at the top five, and a medal even if the stars aligned. I hope he has a quick recovery and that we will see him at Worlds.

Vincent has just shared a video message about having to withdraw from the Men's event: https://www.instagram.com/p/CZrh0jbgDYU/
:fragile:
So sad for him. I'm sure he did everything right including being boosted and isolating yet he still is positive. Now looking for all the righteous people who have been finger pointing on this board to say that somehow he is at fault for catching Covid.

I’m just bracing myself for more such situations. The Games are young; we’re just commencing the traditional FS events. Hope not but, as Vincent’s case demonstrates, the daily tests in the athletes village can yield unimaginable positive results, even among folks who’ve taken all precautions, vaccines, boosters, etc.

Who though it was a good idea to have all of those skaters in that box during the TE? That's playing with fire.
Yeah that was a dumb idea. They were jammed in there together. Vincent sounded like his nose was stuffed up but it could have also been from crying. So sad for him. At least he got to compete in the team event & got a medal, & he'll probably be fine for Worlds.

I am more worried about the ice dancers rather than Nathan as he is just one person. If that spreads to the US ice dancers then it can spread through half the ice dance field.

I recall Megan Duhamel tweeting her  at the size of the boxes and how close everyone was when the event opened. It certainly was an interesting choice considering how strict everything else is. Plastic barriers between all the athletes in the dining area but cram them all together in the boxes. I wonder if that was left to the ISU whereas the organisers control everything else.
