If I remember correctly, there are no internal or contiguous food concessions, so that minimizes the need to check for food brought into the arena.

That's part of it. The other part would be people brining in weapons, or other dangerous items.

I know with some sports - mostly football, soccer, basketball, hockey - it is to look for projectiles and other things that could harm players like flashlights shining in eyes, or look for alcohol in venues not allowed to serve (I'm not sure if NCAA rules have changed).

Right after 9/11 I had to open my camera and close it to take a picture before entering the arena in Co. Springs.

I found you only had to unzip the small bag with medications in it, not dump it out or have them inspected. I've had more difficulty with medications in airports.

It's just the way things are.

This. The rules for DH’s upcoming trip are very strict. Everything in original packaging, no more than 7 days more than length of trip, and he’s told to expect “What is this? Why do you take it?“ for every med.

no problem. Just say hello Vash and hopefully it will be me. I will wear a pink wool hat and a red scarf in the arena. I also have a dark color jacket - either magenta or something close to it.

My evening jacket will be heavier and definitely magenta. Day time - I will play it by the ear.

I stayed at the LaQuinta on Tropicana Ave for SkAm2019. The road looks sketchy but I never worried about walking to the Orleans because there were so many pedestrians. I would advise doing it in a group though, three or more.

Just arrived at the arena with my clear bag packed with small makeup bags, wallet, jacket, scarf, etc. No one even attempted to look inside lol. Just have to hold it over your head through the metal detector.

According to Google Maps there's a city bus that runs along Tropicana and stops right outside the Orleans. That would be faster than walking and probably safer.

Carolane SOUCISSE is skating in a flattering dress and their music is to the Queens of Disco so that a win for me. They didn't do a full run-through but I like the parts they did.
