Piers Morgan is a racist POS and he'll never nail anything.
Says you. I don't follow what the Royals and non-Royals are doing/not doing except for when the TV is on background noise, but the back-and-forths in this thread are fascinating and there's a lot of twisting of words all over the place. Not unexpected.

First, there are some pretty terrible people that are in positions of having common sense, being geniuses, being experts in their fields, whatever. That doesn't mean they can't be right from time to time. If you're going to keep on about every little thing that bothers you, then please join the fan group against Joe Biden because at one point he very much did make racist comments/suggestions. Or is it just another case of picking and choosing what you decide is the final matter and telling everyone else how how it is? Or do people get treated differently once they've 'changed'?

And side note, but which skater thread consists of haters? Just about any thread having to do with V/M versus any other team, any Russian lady skater talk, some Nathan versus Yuzuru comments, a lot of Yuna versus whoever was the selection of the day, etc.

A lot of people can't just get their minds around liking one without hating the other, whether that be because they actually prefer the style or because they are from the same country or not from the country of the disliked skater, or whatever. The ex-Royals are nothing special to me. They can do as they want to make themselves happy. I don't see 1200 comment threads about the Kardashians or influencers who have made it big and jump on to every cause whether real or fake, or whatever else.

He is. Though I do think that it's a fair to say that if you want to be left alone by the media, giving a revealing interview to Oprah Winfrey is maybe not the best way to go about that.

Harry and Meghan can say that Finding Freedom was not their doing, but this is. Now, it's fine for them to want to control the narrative and deal with the media on their own terms! But they should be honest about it. I really think they're not getting the best PR advice...

... or maybe they are, if they want to keep people talking about them and interested in them. They'll have to figure out how to balance the private life they say they want with the public profile they probably need for their future endeavors.

DO you even FOLLOW Piers Morgan or have any idea what he advocates? He's an ultra right-wing racist POS.

He's also transphobic.

Wrong. You can't be as racist as Piers Morgan and right about anything. Racism permeates everything racist people think and do.
You keep telling yourself that. Next, you're going to tell me that basic math is racist, right?

Racist people suck, but they can be right about things that are not related to their racist views. For example, this is Morgan's most recent tweet, and surely no reasonable person can object to it:

REMINDER: Until a few months ago, the world had never developed a successful vaccine against any coronavirus. Now we have a load of them & they're going to save the world. To the brilliant scientists who pulled this off in such a phenomenal timescale: thank you.

There's a reason this meme exists:

I am dumbfounded by the question apparently asked by Oprah "Did you remain silent or were you silenced?" Are they not all silenced to a large degree? It can not have been pleasant for William and Kate to have their marriage ripped apart in the media, William accused of having an affair, the "other woman" - supposedly a friend and mother herself named, and Kate accused of forcing her and her husband out of their social circle. I believe there were denials, mainly from Buckingham Palace, but I would suspect William and Kate would have liked to say much more but their position and station in life does not allow for that. With all the money and trappings that go with royalty, on the other side, it is not royal protocol to express opinions on many things and certainly not to respond to rumours. There is no equivalent in the American social structure to being a member of the BRF. Surely the Queen and Prince Philip have suffered through more of this than any people alive. Meghan has not been singled out IMO.

Rumors of infidelity =/= having a newborn being called a chimp.

There was widespread backlash against that, and rightfully so. The stuff about William and Kate's supposed marital problems was pervasive - including, I'm sorry to say, in some Sussex-friendly spaces (though not in any way encouraged by Harry and Meghan!!!)

Some people are just horrible.

Yeah, well, we haven't seen topless photos of Meghan taken from a telephoto lens at long distance sold to the highest bidder, now have we?

If you really want to engage in a tit for tat about the treatment of Meghan vs Kate by the British press, we can certainly go there. The classist hatred of Kate when she was William's GF was just as vile as the racist stuff Meghan has endured, and Kate and the Middleton family put up with it for FAR longer than Meghan.

I get it, to you combating racism is paramount to any and all other forms of discrimination. It isn't enough to say that all discrimination is bad. No, no, no, YOUR discrimination is the most important of all.

Classist snobbery is not bad as systemic racism. You can change your class but you can't change your race.

There was speculation that the rift between Harry and William was due to Harry being angry at William for being a bad husband and father. That would have been extremely hurtful.

Another example of someone who gets some very unpleasant attention is Princess Eugenie. She is the only member of the BRF to have an official Instagram under her own name, where she gets a lot of nice, supportive comments. But there's also all sorts of nastiness about her appearance (and her sister's), and of course about her father. Andrew deserves it; Eugenie doesn't. I suspect there's some Q stuff if you dig deeper. I hope she doesn't see any of it.

I’m aware of what he’s said and done, but you’re still saying that any knowledge or expertise or anything is general is wiped out by being racist. That’s your opinion.

Guess what? There’s a ton of people, even self-admitted on this board, that hated gays not all that long ago. I’m sure there’s plenty of people who don’t ‘get’ what trans is yet. There are people who complain endlessly about the use of Karen, when white women when are engaging in behavior that puts them at power over minorities.

People unfortunately have their opinions even if they aren’t right, but it doesn’t stop them from potentially or actually having extreme book smarts or skills.

If only it were that easy for people to have upward mobility (this is often, but not always, tied to race).

I believe part of the criticism of Kate was because she and her family were in the process of "changing their class", and you know, new money... so gauche...

My point is that none of them really have freedom of speech - not whether the nasty comments about you and those you love are more distasteful and potentially dangerous than another. They not only don't clap back (at least not like I would) but they also rarely state opinions, stay out of politics, etc. etc. It is a big price to pay but it is not new.

I wouldn't say "rarely". Prince Charles has had quite a few things to say about architecture, urban planning, religion, climate change, etc., and has gotten a lot of pushback when he does. Partly because of the way he expresses himself, which seems to be interpreted as having the tone of a royal talking down to the ignorant peasants - although his ideas are often pretty thoughtful. But he also gets pushback because he's the future king, and there are questions about whether he understands or respects the limits of the role of the monarch in the parliamentary system.
