Good to see lessons that proper anti-C19 measures are being taken at the Traktor arena

That's pure theater that is worthless if people wear their masks under their noses. The C is airborne, not thought to be transmitted from surfaces.

It used to annoy me, but now I think it's cute that people think fabric masks do something, like kids believing in Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. Of course they are actually pure theater as well, but it's nice that you believe in them. Very sweet and innocent.

They actually do do something.

My student is a 63 year old radiologist in a hospital who has been exposed to C19 daily since March.
He says he is not concerned about catching it as he is fastidious about wearing his mask correctly and about sanitizing his hands.
He doesn't have any antibodies and so far has yet to have a positive test.
So masks do work!

Most of those fabric masks have a slot to insert a filter. Even if it’s only a coffee filter or paper towel, it’s much better than nothing or the dangling nose look. Not sure why you feel the need to be so condescending. I’m sure we’d all be safer in N95s, but that’s not possible.

Attitudes like this are the reason why we're still where we're at. It is a shame that we would think so little of protecting not only ourselves but our loved ones. Shame, shame, shame.

There are peer-reviewed scientific papers showing that cloth masks are beneficial in slowing transmission.

From Chelyabinsk:

Random photos:

From last week, "blue faces" from Morris @ Khrystalniy (you can see Samsonov there practicing)

Am I missing something? My instagram is full of pictures from the drawing party and nobody is wearing masks until the actual drawing?
Also, Trusova in that pants suit looks fire

I read that since she's returned to training from illness she's mainly been practicing elements in isolation and not doing full program run throughs, is that correct?

I do worry about her stamina and ability to make it through the free skate. Even if she has been training well she was still off the ice for two weeks not too long ago and it can take a lot of time to recover from phenomena. I'm not expecting her to win but I'm happy she's back on ice and giving it a good fight.

That is what she said in a recent interview. It is possible that although the interview was published 2-3 days ago, it was conducted a week or two earlier.... :-) and she was able to do run-throughs in more recent days.

More photos from Chelyabinsk.

ig video, Trusova practice clips, few quads.
4Lz(rippon)+3T and 4Lz(rippon)+Eu+3S (with step out)

I was quite impressed with Anna’s English at Skate America last year when she was interviewed.

I remember when she was competing in the JGP series, Ted Barton interviewed her and I was really impressed with her English skills. She's not only fluent, but she can correctly use idioms and contemporary slang which is probably the biggest hurdle to complete fluency. A lot of Russian skaters speak English well, but she barely has an accent which makes her sound almost like an average American teenager (well, not an American-born teenager, she definitely still has a bit of an accent). I expect she's had tutors from a very young age.

She is not. But there are rumors that her father went to Krystalniy to speak about "something?", a "back up plan?".
I think she wants to go back. Plushenko seems to be putting his energies into raising the younger girls who trust him. Besides Trusova is just being out performed both artistically and technically. The issue isn't with coaches but rather her own mind and abilities and her meddling dad.

Trusova needs someone (a professional) to help her sort out her mental blocks. But she also needs someone to figure out a smart jump layout. If today's FS runthrough is any indication of her planned content, then I'm confused. Two 4Lz but no 4T (bad idea, the lutz has been more miss than hit this season; if you're going for two quads, go for the more reliable one even if it's worth less points), two 2axels back to back, and then it appears she insists on doing the Lutz-Loop combo late in the program (and also the flip, for which we know she'll get an edge call). She normally doesn't back away from going all out in training runtrhoughs, unless she's just taking it easy. I want her to take it easy and just do two or three solid quads if that's what she can do and feels comfortable doing. But then, there's the Lutz-Loop problem. Just get rid of it already.

I agree. Her parent's need to back away and let her breath. I actually think Eteri was better for her as they didn't push her as hard as she pushes herself (and I suspect is pushed by parents really wanting an Olympic medal). They all just need to let her skate. She has the skills. She has the determination. She just needs to not get mentally ahead of her skates during competition.

Eteri did right by Trusova. Trusova just could not cope. That is all.

I wonder who is spreading the Trusova rumors?
I thought she was happy with Plushenko, and that Eteri was saying she was kind of a spoiled diva? How does one keep track of all the rumors and drama from day to day?
I think she has improved with Plushenko. She has definitely shown growth. I’m more worried about Alena.

I think it was more Kostornaya that Eteri implied was a bit spoiled. I don't remember her really commenting much on Trusova's departure. In that case, it felt like the ugliness came from the Plushchenko camp (but maybe the statement Trusova issued that people thought was directed by them seemed more snarky because of translation than it really was? Who knows?). I remember thinking Eteri's camp handled Trusova leaving pretty well; that's why the way they handled Kostornaya leaving sort of surprised me, because I didn't think they handled that too well at all. But we see all this stuff from so far away through a huge filter of language and cultural differences.

I can't decide how to feel about the Plushchenko thing. It feels like there's a too many cooks situation in Russian figure skating right now, but it's not like he doesn't have a right to coach and find students if he wants to.
