Basically it’s an award for the sexiest female skater
PSOTY is short for Porny Skater of the Year. (I didn’t come up with it - this forum has been running these polls for years under that name!)

Ah, thanks. I know that none of us on this forum means ill but...in light of #metoo and recent scandals on nude pics, harassment, etc., just ogling and talking about our favorite skaters as “porny” or the like may not be in the best taste. I’d not want to think of any of these six ladies (or any young men) being ogled as “porny anything.”

I completely understand. In fact, I personally suggested changing the name of the poll to “Sexy/Hot Skater of the Year”, but many people on the forum didn’t want to change it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a little beauty contest here, but I’ve never been a fan of the name because it sounds somewhat objectifying.

Tbh, I’ve always been a bit puzzled by the qualifications for gay icon of the year. It usually ends up just being some hot diva woman, which imo is just PSOTY under a different name.

Maybe, but just because there aren't many of us attracted to ladies around here doesn't mean we aren't allowed something once in a while!
