JGP Medal for Hocke/Kunkel :encore:
When was the last medal for german fed? Was this Hecken's gold on home soil?
Do we have many JGP medalists at all?

Looks like the last jgp medalists for germany was Koch/Nuechtern for ice dance back in the 12/13 season.

Aya Hatakawa came in 15th in her debut (130,65pts)
She is by far my favourite german junior so far. She has a nice, complete package.
And I approve her dedication to Aliona's costumes :D
She is Aliona's student?

Roscher/Schuster 103,42pts, 14th
That was rough. Not much progress visible to me.

Wolf/Liebers with rough outing in RD (10th, 49,05pts)
Lots of wobbles and twizzle splat.

There does not seem to be an official document that proves any kind of support for Aya by Aljona, but a vague proof of cooperation can be found in the English Wikipedia with an first entry from April 3, 2019: "Savchenko started coaching Hatakawa after her previous coach moved to away under Savchenko's guidance Hatakawa started performing triple jumps and won German Novice Nationals 2019." (concerning name and activities of the author it could be insider knowledge, but proof of the correctness of the entry is not provided)
A meaningful photo with both together and with a lovely fingers crossed from Aljona on Aya's IG shortly before the competition, testifies to a hint that this may be true: good luck my dear ? you can do it ?

Anyway, I'm impressed by this girl's holy seriousness. Triple jumps only a few months ago under Aljona's guidance? That would indeed be an enormous increase in performance in fast motion. And I am curious to see what Aljona will do first when she returns to the ice ... (because without her and her unconditional willpower neither now nor in the future in Germany anything seems to move towards top of world class)

Wolf/Liebers finished 10th at with 129,28pts.
I they they really developed quite well, the FD is really good.

Müller/Dieck, well, to be honest; I have no words. I hoped with the switch to Krylova, but well, what I see, I don't like. As mentioned in the competition thread already: not french enough to pull this off, not entertaining enough for the trashy route. Sorry. It's too much.
With 159,20pts solid score though. Important with 3 of 4 events counting. Good for them.

Maybe we should...
  • (...first give her some time with her little one)
  • ...let Aliona prove herself as a proper coach whose 'uncoditional willpower' moves someone towards top of worlds class, before giving credits.
  • ...not see everything that pessismistic (my personal @Hanna post of the day :D)

Update on #missionJGPF for Hocke/Kunkel before final JGP in pairs:
(it might be for the best I am missing the :drama: because my trip to Nebelhorn this weekend)

They make JGPF
  • if they finish on podium
  • if they finish fourth with an overall score of 153,66pts or higher
Even with 3 RUS teams being entered, this seems doable.

Placing 4th (with lower total scores) or lower, there are still scenarios, they could make it.

Finally got around to watching it, and oh boy, you aren't kidding. Even if you didn't like the Cancer FD conceptually, it held together far better than this thing. The voice overs and hair are a joke.

Müller/Dieck's free dance is so wtf that I really have no idea how to comment on that. Btw, Coco Chanel is the theme and he is stylised as Karl Lagerfeld - what a clever concept :D.

The Coco Chanel idea comes from Lagouge & Rahier's FD their last season together. At least that is the first free dance I had heard of using it. (I'm sure someone will correct me if they have seen a prior version). The music is different.

Ok, I've rewatched L/R's fd and, honestly, L/R were way better than Mueller/Dieck in terms of music (no irritating voiceovers all the time), choreography (much less posing) and overall styling (sorry, but that Lagerfeld look doesn't really suit Dieck). One thing is certain - I miss Corentin on competitive ice (and the drama he could create) :wuzrobbed.

New team envelope criteria is up:

Ehm, I just take the example for Schott and Weinzierl:
To stay in PK (prospect team) they need to meet each of the following criteria twice at international comeptitions this season:
  • total score 170+ points
  • SP with 3-3, 3, 2a
  • FS with 2a, 6x 3 (with 3-3 2a-3 or 3-1-3)
  • --> full rotation required, no < allowed; overall average jump goe not worse than -1
  • - steps/spins combined lv.15
  • --> overall average goe not worse than -0,5
  • PCS, 7,5pts or higher
Getting this all done in one program, and then managed to do so twice.
Ehm, good luck

(CS Top 4, GP Top 6, Euros Top10, Worlds Top15 might be considered too)

I just had a look at the stunning Romeo & Julia WC-FS by Bradie Tennell (as I have often done). And I was reminded of the requirements for such a brilliant performance. A program that was good for 7th place at the World Championships. The question arises for me to what extent the catalogue of requirements of the DEU corresponds to this.

Bradies choreographer is Benoît Richaud, who also helps with Aya Hatakawas choreography - Ayas FS in Gdansk ... I found it wonderful (admirable, how she was able to put away the fallen 3L so confidently just at the beginning of the program; and she is only at the beginning of her career ...)

A thin song (as last year) in the SP and the replay (from last year) in the FS - an even more unimaginative (music)program could probably not be realized? :(

Notes from NHT:
For the first time ever (for me), there seems to be some kind of #TeamD at NHT ??
Lots of cheering for the other teammates; Striegler, Schindler, Österreich & Co, always at the boards for the 'other' skaters to support.
I really like that.
Great day.
Schott absolutely owned the arena today. The SP is such a cracker.
Marold improved, still a long way to got, but decent senior outing.
Solid comeback for Bock.

I really liked Stoll's SP.
A shame he was totally off.
Same about Hess, who was quite charming live.

Hase/Seegert on steady progress (and finally with great costumes); the SP is a great vehicle for them and the best response for @cs.berlin comment earlier in this thread

Go on #TeamD ??
:encore:

The commentary by cs.berlin referred to the music selection - and I add: now unfortunately also unimaginative costumes. And on the expected repeat program of tomorrow, of which we have not seen anything yet. Either the intellectual abilities are not sufficient to recognize this, or the ample stupid commentary is just a 'vehicle' for instinctless sensitivities.
