I trust Clinique and put their ultra moisture surge moisturizer in my Sephora basket. Over40 years now they’ve sold quality products at a decent price. I also found a lip treatment and hair masque to try. And at least I have the strength to use my Clarins serum again.

Let’s face it, there’s only so much makeup and skincare can do after major illness but it makes me feel better to try.....

I find that if I moisturize, use a moisturizing lipstick and do my brows and lashes, I don’t feel quite as old. Wearing earrings helps, too.

I am loving the Drunk Elephant Rescue kit except for the Beste Jelly Cleanser.

The cleanser is not bad but it's foaming and doesn't remove waterproof mascara. I much prefer cleansing balms.

It also feels a bit drying. It's a lot like the Clinique foaming face wash but not as drying as that one.

Loving the Lala Retro Whipped moisturizer. This may be my holy grail from now on. It is super moisturizing.

I also really like the B Hydra Intensive hydration Serum (hyaluronic acid serum) and the C tango multivitamin eye cream.

The B hydra seems similar to other hyaluronic acid serums I've tried so not sure if I will buy it on its own or not.

I'm not a big user/believer of eye creams but I do think this one helps by at least moisturizing and brightening the under eye area.

The Lippe Balm is also really nice and hydrating. Not sure if I will buy this itself because it's $38 on its own (a lot for a lip balm!!!) but it's a great addition to this kit.

I feel like repurchasing the whole kit again with my 20 dollar off coupon but I also need Dr. Gross.

No ghastly details but a downward spiral of gastro events involving 3 weeks in hospital. Now I’m slowly getting better so I can go back there in January for major surgery. It’s trivial to worry about what I look like but also gets my mind off scarier things.

Hair care question: I keep getting ads for Prose custom shampoos. Have anyone used it? Is it worth it? I also see Function of Beauty custom shampoo, same question.

In general I've considered changing to a non-sulfate shampoo. I have thin and fine hair, so I don't think I can go without shampoo at all (curly girl method) - though I did get a sample on Unwash Cleansing Conditioner and I liked it better than I thought.

Do you have a favorite non-sulfate shampoo?

However, the Fresh one has been sold out at Sephora for months, so I have been looking a bit for others, but tbh they are so expensive I'm hesitant. I'm looking for something that is anti-aging and a bit evening of skintone. and with very little fragrance. I like the black tea one, but I dislike overly sweet or floral scents. Citrus or 'darker scents' I can handle. Suggestions?

It has glycolic acids to keep your skin fresh and also anti-oxidants to keep away the damage. I take it with me when I travel. As with all acid exfoliants, wear sunscreen. It has no smell. I use it in the evening under moisturizer(s.)

What has happened to this thread is that i am on a no buy. Translation of that is that i have realised I cannot live like a drunken billionaire. I am after all just a librarian on a modest salary. There are so many skating competitions to attend to.
@maatTheViking atm I am finishing HASK moisturizing shampoo that has no SLS, but once I finish my other supplies (some are pretty dreadful tbh) I plan to get Maui Moister shampoo.

I have been on a bit of a reduced buy and trying to use up some of what I have.

That being said, I did just place an order at Sephora for a new lipstick.

It's one from Becca that was in the Khloe and Malika Best Friends collection, and I also ordered a mini highlighter in Champagne Pop.

I had a sample of Champagne Pop and while it is too dark on me right now, it mixes beautifully with the shade Moonlight (which I also have) and Moonlight alone looks like nothing on me.

Of course, I dropped the sample and smashed it after using it for about a month.

So I ordered a mini one.

I really wanted to make an order to get the great deal that they were offering for samples. You can choose 8 samples of great Asian skin care products for Lunar New Year if you spend $88.

As for sulfate free shampoos, I use some of the ones at Sally's Beauty. I don't really have a favorite, I have just been rotating through them all.

I know they get a bad rap, but I really like Wen. The lavender is specifically for fine hair. The key to sulfate free is to scrub diligently.

Also, since we have such hard water here that makes my hair dull, I rinse with a couple of bottles of cool spring water. It really helps to keep the hair shiny. Thank goodness for the Kirkland brand in Costco

Has anybody tried any of the fabric face masks? I especially like the ones from New Zealand.

I put the mask on my face & squeeze out the residue from the package into my bath & soak in it. They make my skin so soft!

As for shampoo, I use bar (solid) shampoos & especially like Molly Muriel brands. Love her soaps, too. Also like Camamu shampoos & soaps. Both brands are hand made with pure products.

Pleasantly surprised, but I’d rather have the Caudalie sample gift that has the Vinoperfect serum, that stuff is good.

And, since I can’t seem to be able to not spend money there, I decided to pick up the Missha BB cream. Will see what gives.

I have made an incidental discovery: Blue Tansy Clarity Mask.
I have been looking for a clarifying mask that's not clay and this is it. It's so good and so gentle that I am canceling my Hydrafacial appointment this week. Of course, I have been using it every day this week per instructions and may continue to do so. Others with more sensitive skin may choose to do it twice or three times a week but this thing delivers.

Have they made it any easier to remove? That was always my issue with it. And their remover burns my eyes. I've been using RollerBall but I don't like it as much.

I do not like the Benefit "They're Real" because it's so hard to remove, and I found it made my lashes too stiff. I like the RollerLash more, but it's not crazy with the volume.

I remove it with a bi-phase remover, a rather cheap one, from a local brand. I'll soak a cotton pad and let it sit on my lashes for a few seconds and it just melts off.
The Nivea bi-phase remover will burn the skin around my eyes, but all the others have been fine and my skin is very sensitive. Any oil will work too. I never tried Benefit's own remover.

I use a cleansing oil for mascara and it works well with They're Real too. It's my favorite mostly because of the brush, I have dense lashes and I feel many non-plastic brushes clumps them?

oh and one day I was wearing it and my mom was visiting and she asked if I was wearing falsies lmao.

My favorite is still Diorshow. I've been using Tarte because I had some eye issues/allergies and do touch my eyes a lot, so the Tarte smudge a lot less. But, the look is not as dramatic.

Neutrogena’s eye makeup remover works well. Soak up a cotton pad, let sit on lashes for a few seconds and wipe off.

I use Clinique Take The Day Off, takes it all off as advertised. I stopped by Sephora today and picked up NARS liquid blush in what else but Orgasm. So natural looking, love it.

Also picked up the Laneige sleeping lip mask in vanilla (yum, my lips are happy this morning, paging Shoma of the perpetually chapped lips) and also Laneige eye gel.

Love the lip mask but the eye gel is going back. First of all, you know that musty, old school perfumy smell some of the old style skin care products have? Ewww, so strong and gross. And worst of all, it’s actually drying, not hydrating, at least for me. Pass.
