Because she is already doing Skate Canada and wants to do some international assignments outside of Canada?

But Satoko will be there. She wins it every time. Plus there's the monstrous altitude that takes out half the competitors. Lombardía may have been a better option.

Marin Honda won it last year. Kaori Sakamoto was 5th or 6th I think, so I don't think it's indicative to the future of the season (except for maybe Nathan winning last year). It is usually a pretty messy event and the altitude is killer so early in the season.

Challenger events are taken by the top elite skaters as just warm up for the season. I really doubt they lose sleep over winning or who they are facing in any of those events. The real start to gain momentum and hype begins with the Grand Prix.

I agree that it's usually messy and no one skates at their best (with the exception of Davis and White). However, we have always found it to be a sort of good luck competition - mostly for the US, but often for international competitors as well.

I'm brain dead this afternoon.

This is the first time we have seen all these Canadian skaters at the Classic. Looking forward to the ladies competition.

Alex Johnson, Emmanuel Savary, and Sean Rabbitt are probably scheduled for other events, Tim Dolensky will be at Lombardia, and maybe Jason, Alex K., and Nathan aren't quite ready. The rest of the ISP guys are juniors on the JGP, for the most part. Keep in mind Ondrej Nepela and Autumn Classic are a week later, and Nebelhorn is a week after that. Max, Adam, Ross, and Grant being out of the picture really takes a big chunk out of the senior field. Perhaps by next season we will finally see Torgashev, Tomoki, and Camden moving up to senior internationally...

For Ladies, looking forward to seeing Katie McBeath, Megan Wessenberg, and Ashley Lin getting an assignment in one of those upcoming comps based on their strong summer showing.

For Pairs, hoping to see Calalang/Johnson, Deardorff/Settlage, and Timlen/Highgate-Brutman get something soon also.

In Dance, we have a ton of junior teams doing JGP and then our GP teams, and then Manta/Johnson who I assume will get SA.

U.S. Classic often has been slow to publish the full entries for whatever reason.

The deadline for the federations to submit their entries by name for both Ondrej Nepela and Autumn Classic International is "not later than Friday, August 17, 2018 - 20:00 h (local time city of event)."

Nebelhorn Trophy enty deadline: Friday, August 24, 2018 (20:00 local time).

Finlandia Trophy entry deadline: Friday, August 31, 2018 at 20:00 (local time Espoo)

The Classic is always slow. Which brings me to a request. We always have a very hard time finding a list of competitors in the challenge skate - novice and junior. If anyone happens to see a list - please post it.

Yeah for Jimmy Ma, even in his disappointing skates he still manages to be massively entertaining.

They need 8 entries for pairs (from 3 countries) in the Challenger series to get ISU points or is it only 6?

From ISU Communication 2151: https://www.isu.org/docman-document...munications/16903-isu-communication-2151/file
The International Competition must include entries in at least 3 disciplines from minimum ten (10)
different ISU Members, all disciplines combined.
In addition, the minimum number of entries per discipline are as follows:
• Ladies/Men: minimum of eight (8) entries each, from at least four (4) ISU Members;
• Pair Skating: minimum of five (5) entries from at least three (3) ISU Members;
• Ice Dance: minimum of six (6) entries from at least four (4) ISU Members.
Scroll down to section 6. WORLD STANDING POINTS for the breakdown by discpline.

so it is not free then.
will the live scoring be posted anywhere? I used to be able to see the live scoring on icenetwork site without a pass

1. The ISU streams all JGP competitions free on its YouTube channel.
2. Some Federations stream their Challenger Series events, but not all do. Some of them are free, some are not.
3. GP competitions are most easily available by paid stream or broadcast.

4. Most of the time people also find and share links free live streams (often from Russia, China etc) for Challenger and GP events. Two ways to find out about them are :

A. This website has information on competitions including info on free streams, where available:

http://soyouwanttowatchfs.tumblr.com/tagged/how-to-watch

B. The competition forums here on FSU and on Golden Skate. Both require a paid subscription. Not sure what FSU costs. Golden Skate just started charging this year and the cost is pretty low. Each forum has threads for each comp where people trade links for live streams and the Admins usually provide links to the live scoring data.

With all live streams, you need to be careful of malware.

You should also be able to access live scoring results on the ISU and federation websites in pretty much real time, but links to the event pages aren’t usually available until near the time the competitions start.

Hope that helps.
