Downtown Jason Brown - Let the Good Times Roll (uber thread #2)

Dont read into things or assume. I actually wanted Jason on the Oly Team.

Was just asking why Adam wasnt going to Worlds. Usually medalists opt out.

ANL doesn't go into cheer threads to bash the cheered subject.

Never do I think poorly of ANL; I truly meant we might not know, since most of my wasted-on-the-Internet time is spent following Jason.:)

My surmise is that Adam is rightfully striking while the iron is hot with his newfound fame (making many appearances on screen, if not stage) and maybe even contemplating retirement? Perhaps DWTS?

Merely my simple wild a** guesses, however.

The news I read now said that Access (formerly Access Hollywood) has hired him & offered Mirai Nagasu to work for them at The Oscars. Adam said yes. Looks like Adam is going to do all the press and publicity of post-olys so that is my guess why he is not doing Worlds. He taped Ellen yesterday too.

Not to get too off the topic of Jason but Adam was an absolute star of these Olympics; he went fully mainstream and gained a lot of new fans and recognition. He's be foolish to give up the opportunities that are at their peak right after the Olympics to just do one more competition before he retires - especially when he can be replaced by someone who has the ability to finish at least as well as he could (keeping in mind spots for next year).

It's good for Adam and good for Jason. :)

I will say that Jason has been awfully quiet about everything on social media and has not yet mentioned being in for Worlds (and his somewhat cryptic recent post HERE makes me trust reports of a coaching change). Hopefully, everything is on track because I'd very much like to see his programs one last time and see him finish this tough season on a great note.

Oh wow... the thought of Jason leaving Kori would be (for me) like The Knierims leaving Delailah.

I think that was kind of a "silent clue" that he wasn't going... although the skaters are not supposed to announce anything before USFS does.

USFS confirmed that Jason declined Worlds in their press release: http://www.usfigureskating.org/story?id=91354&type=media

Yes, we were earlier discussing on GS (before the official announcement) that Jason had posted none of his “So Proud to Rep the US of A” that he usually posts under such circumstances.

And I noticed with other Twitterers I know: Jason was liking “can’t wait to see you at SOI” tweets. He was not liking “can’t wait to see you in Milan” tweets. But reading between the lines is not official acknowledgement. Sounds like Tom Z. jumped the gun a little;)

Selfishly so sad:( I won’t see him in comps again. Hope it all works out for the best for him:saint:

You're talking as if Jason is retiring.???

So sorry I meant comps *this year*. And because I have tix for SOI, I divide between seeing in comps and seeing in shows.

Lord, I sure hope he's continuing:D ETA: lot of trouble to go through for a new coach, which given the "on the road again" tweets, again reading between the lines, I am inclined to believe now. But I *know* nothing....

refresh my memory.... The idea of Jason leaving Kori for me is like the Knierims leaving Sap..

Why does he want to leave Kori???

He hasn’t even confirmed leaving Kori, much less explained why.

All we know is that a few weeks ago TSL tweeted he’d left; he’s been spotted practicing at several rinks in Southern California over the past few weeks; and he declined the Worlds spot.

Assuming it is true, one obvious explanation would be that last season was rough, his 3A regressed, he’s still struggling to land quads in competition, and he missed the Olympic team. There’s also been some speculation that Kori may want to go in a different direction career wise and/ or is leaving 7K. But all of this speculation and it may be that none of it is true.

Chris Conte has worked with skaters who intended to return to 7K. He put Jordan Moeller on the ice at last summer’s Liberty comp. Then again, Frank C. and presumably Anthony worked with Jason when he intended to return to 7K.

Who knows:D

It's nice to see Jason enjoying himself on the ice with buddies. :) BTW, Tammy Gambill is at Junior Worlds in Sofia, Bulgaria with HKG's Yi Christy Leung.

Didn’t Tammy poach the French jump coach that helped Jason develop his quad? Richard whatshisface and Karen Chen give me literally no confidence in her coaching tho sry2say.

Vincent Restencourt. And yes, though he’s now on the East Coast — Ting Cui, who skated really well today at junior worlds, is one of his students.

As Sylvia noted elsewhere, tammy wasn’t even at the rink (she’s also at Junior Worlds with Hong kong’s Christy Leung) when Jason was there so it’s likely he was just there for the ice time. And God knows Karen could use some of the trademark Jason sunshine with all the skate boot drama.
