Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir # 47: Come What May...

It is lovely to hear such appreciative comments from so many. I loved the idea of Moulin Rouge for them from the beginning and feel it is audience friendly for an Olympic year. Hopefully we have heard the last of "tacky", etc. as the dialogue I hear now is more about smoking hot. Just WOW!

There are a couple of other boards I frequent (on completely diff topics) and so many folks on there have commented on V/M. They love the FD and find it “very hot” and are really taken in by their on ice connection (and a few ppl keep asking about their dating status lol). It was such a pleasant surprise for me and i’m thrilled to see non skating fans connecting to their FD this year which was not the case at all 4 years ago.

I really, really want them to win gold with this but am already trying to tell myself to settle for silver. I know people are saying it’ll come down to levels but I feel like even if they hit it they aren’t getting those levels to win. But that’s next week’s problem. This week I’m just enjoying Team Canada with their gold. They seem so happy and their comeback already one of the most successful comebacks in the history of this sport and I hope they know that.

Reading all those encouraging Twitter posts worldwide and articles from the most unlikeliest of places this Oly games (compared to Sochi) made me realize how much Scott's (routine) sage words "let the skating speaks for itself" ever more profound. Predetermined or not, the upcoming individual event for SD & FD is going to be epic.:EVILLE:

Christian and Satine on ice from Baz’s own lips! Yay Tessa and Scott so proud of them. https://twitter.com/bazluhrmann/status/963086802839130113

Wow!! To be called Christian and Satine by the MR director!! #Legendary

ETA: I thought Meaghan made a good point yesterday about the rink now feeling comfortable to them. Nerves will always be there, but now there'll also be the feeling of the camaradie that took all of them to team gold.

Thanks so much for the links.
Got to admit, Time was quick to correct an error in the article. The article originally stated that V/M's first Olympics was 2014 (see below), LOL. But hey, they are forgiven for recognizing how great V/M are by devoting an article to them.

"Virtue and Moir are Canada's dual flag bearers this year, a first for the country. Known for their clinical precision, the pair made their Olympic debut in Sochi in 2014, nabbing silver, and they've been laser-focused on gold ever since..."

As VM fans we are so lucky to be witness to their talent and integrity. It takes a certain maturity to step away from the sport that they grew up with to reflect on their motivation, and then make the decision for the right reasons to come back to the sport with a renewed commitment to continue to work and advance their skills. Their performances all season have demonstrated their resolve - they are true competitors always striving to perfect themselves.
Once again magnificent performances with more to come.

A huge thank you to the Virtue and Moir parents/families who believed in their kids and sacrificed above and beyond for them to reach their dreams and bring us so much joy. I am sure through the dark days of pain in Tessa's legs it would have been hard to believe they would still be at the top of their game for a 3rd Olympics. Three cheers for longevity in the sport! It clearly shows.

It would be great if she would wear the blue dress for the individual competition.

If they are going to change costumes for only one segment of the IE, I would rather they change Tessa's SD dress back to the original or at least something with the same silhouette (and with long sleeves).

Baz Lurhmann calling them Christian and Satine :cheer2: He's said that when he asked Nicole Kidman to play Satine, he said, "She sings, she dances, she dies". I feel like last night, I watched "He sings, they dance, she dies". :)

I need to watch the British Eurosport commentary!!!
