The Carolina Kostner Thread

Yes hello, I am a new poster here but I wanted to share something about Carolina Kostner, which is that my number one most favorite ladies skater of all time, Anastasia Galustyan, said that alongside Yuna Kim and Patrick Chan, Carolina is her role model! I read a wonderful article about Anastasia from an internet site called Absolute Skating and it has so much interesting information about Anastasia including the fact that she doesn't like to go out and party when she has free time! But anyway, if you go to the link and look at the ninth paragraph, you will see Anastasia's quotation about how much she admires Carolina and I thought it was a very interesting and well said response.

What I love, at the age I am -- I mean, not so much the number of years but also the number of hours I put in on the ice -- is that I don't have to expend as much effort into learning how to skate anymore. There are things I don't need to do every day, as I used to. Skating comes naturally, just like brushing your teeth. This allows me to concentrate on aspects (of skating) that I didn't even understand when I was 15 or 16 years old.

I feel so joyful that I can still improve. In my mind or in my body, there is always something I can improve on, literally every day! I'm confident that by the end of the season things are going to be really good. This motivates me tremendously. Of course, when you're at a competition like this one, you fight for a medal and that motivates you. But in everyday practice and life, I have that real inside motivation to find the version of Carolina which I firmly believe I am.

For every single program?

The statement wasnt superficial or general. Zag has flailing arm movements. ANL says I dislike this skating because of flailing arm movements.

I dont understand why the unnecessary Atlanta Housewives drama at this time of the morning. I haven't even poured the whiskey into the Cheerios yet. Come on!!

A general or superficial statement would be 14 yr old and 15 yr old have no purpose being on an Oly podium.

What I said was a statement about something thats true, and as fan of skating and interpretation movement I think she's too young too interpret much because the programs are carbon copies of each other. Tutu (check), arms going crazy (check,) same hairstyle (check), same gloves (check), no surprises with jump layout (check). I could go on but Ill stop here. Reaching for the Makers Mark.

People go on and on and on how IJS now limits artistry... when Medev and Zag haven't changed one IOTA of their skating themselves its not really IJS. They can realize there is more than one facial expression or more than one dress style, etc.

I appreciate Ashley because she changes her skating (look, dress, hair) with each program to fit a character or a program. Zag and Medev haven't showed my any range as a skater yet (even after 2 world Champs) because its the same thing just changing the music.

Eccola. Clearly, I would not be surprised to see her in 2022. Not in the slightest she plans to retire. :)

I still have an idea in my mind, a vision of something I've not yet been able to do. I hope I can succeed at it.

Kostner: Oh, yes! We've just texted this morning. I am super-thankful and happy that he supports me and understands me the way he does. His coaching is really useful to me.

Icenetwork: When we saw you skate in practice, with that new technique, we understood that you came back not only because you loved skating but because you wanted to win.

And it happened. My heart is still shaken. Now I am really wanting her to win the OGM so the whole world will know what the gold standard of skating really is.
 
WOW, what a skate, at 30 !
She is an amazing athlete. The UR on the Salchow looks a bit harsh to me, but anyway, the landing wasn't clean.

I love it and I lover her in unitards and I just don’t care :cool:

One thing that still puzzles me: she has beautiful and consistent flips and loops. WHY does she insist on repeating the toe-loop as a solo jump?!? :drama:

She wasn’t 100% in the SP and had a shaky LP, but she’ll deliver when it counts :summer:

Hope she'll wear the "kermit" unitard for the medal ceremony, and the dress for her long program. :)
(I tried to ask Ms Secondini if a "costume changing" is possible; let's see what she answers. :))
