You’re interpreting this for us right ?
Arrrrrgh! I can't find it! There is an excellent translation of this article on a website. I vaguely remember it may have been a V&M fan site. And there is a link to it somewhere on FSU. I looked in the dance hall thread and the V&M thread and didn't see it, but I'll look further. It's definitely here somewhere.

ETA: Found it! :cheer: http://team-virtue-moir.tumblr.com/post/170099111694/translation-two-sides-of-the-coin-at

Gabriella and Guillaume will be skating at Grenoble a couple of days after the Olympics.

ETA: I'm rather surprised to see Yannick Bonheur on the list of participants. Dytrt is not listed so I guess he is going to skate alone?

It is. I hope FFSG is not burning them out. After the show they'll have worlds and then right after the French tour organized by FFSG.

They probably wanted to stop by their home town after the Olympics so I guess it makes sense. But that tour after Worlds, I don't know. I mean after such a season, they probably just want to rest. It will be hard enough to remotivate oneself to go back to create new programs and train end of spring, but with the tour .... Not enough vacation imo.

And to think that they'll most likely have numerous media commitments after the Olympics on top of that... I hope they get to have some downtime with their families and a well-deserved rest in the off-season.

Any info on that tour? I'm thinking of going if it's in Paris/Bercy too, or another easily accessible city!

Translation :

-She was born 2 weeks early. She has one little sister and one little brother. Her dad is Greek but never taught her to speak it.

-She did "stupid" things as a child : writes on wall, on her shoes

-In school, she had a special schedule because she was playing violin  Had it easy in litterrature and foreign languages (she writes very well). She thought about being a journalist, or maybe actress.

-Her teen years were difficult, tumultuous, her mom did hat she could do. She hang out with people she shouldn't have (she does not give names, but she has a very bad experience in mind). Skating did not take away her teen years but took her a lot of time (but thankfully never dropped out of school).

-Biggest quality : does not hold a grudge. Essential for her carreer :D. Biggest flaw : being late. Guilty pleasure : foie gras.

-Tried ballet and track and field. Started skating at 4 (not that early when your mom is a coach).

-Pairing G&G together : worked instantly, results too. French champion in their category every year.

-About what her daughter became : "an interpret, sensitive, full of intelligence. She suprises me without surprising me, I know she had that in her, what's suprising is that she keeps growing".

-What do you want to say to her right before the games : "difficult, because the mother and the coach are very related, the coach even has a larger place. When I see my daughter skate, the technician sees her skate, not the mom. Not easy, but I want to tell her she did an amazing journey since she is not a "natural/born" athlete (in french : in the soul), and I'm proud that I brought this possibility for France to have a Olympic Gold medallist team".

A French fan has 2 extra tickets for Olys: 1 for the Olympic SD and 1 for the Olympic FD and both are good seats!
If any of you is interested (or know someone who would be interested), please get in touch with her via email ([email protected]).

Thanks for the translation. I was intrigued by that interview where Gabriella said she could have gone down the wrong path, that she liked "the taste of forbidden fruit" or something like that. You rarely hear anything like this from skaters. Hopefully an Olympic gold medal will bring about a book deal for a biography. ;)

Yes, Gabriella is not really the politically correct, or the typical ice princess type at all. Her mom said she had plenty of friends and went out a lot, I'm guessing too much :cold: And not the right type of parties, but it's very common in France when you are a teen (not taboo at all). When your mom is your coach though... :D
I like that her mom said "not your natural/born athlete" too, it's refreshing hearing that not everyone has his/her path written or everything falls perfectly into places and boom, you win.

That's common for teens in the US, but I can't imagine a US skater talking about partying with questionable people while they're still competing. Or make jokes about taking drugs on IG stories. Bless Gabriella.

Here you go, they're not participating in the team event. Stating last small adjustments and surprising changes to their programs in order to reach for gold. Are you intrigued and/or anxious ? ;)
I thought at first saving it for the individual comp was best, after all they are undefeated and potentially losing even just the SD portion in the team event could play with one's head. But then a live practice, tasting waters at least for the SD might have settled their nerves. Anyway, their team knows best judging by this season's results.

They definitely knows what's best, and it's true that France is not going to have a medal anyway. I'm intrigued for the changes ! :cheer2: (As usual haha).
And this is not a Russia/Canada/USA type of competition where they need to be almost 100% to win that Team medal, I don't want them to go just for "warming-up", not give a 100% and not get the marks in the end of course.
The only thing is that we have to wait quite a while to see them skate ! :gallopin1
