Boyang Jin cheer thread!

Admins, given that Boyang Jin is very much a part of the present discussion, can this thread be taken out of archives and put back into The Trash Can?

Thank you.

The quad lutz- triple toe covered HUGE distance, and that's just me watching on a laptop. It looked to cover more distance than Nathan and Vincent's quad lutzes. I would love to see this all in person. Watch out now, Boyang could wind up winning 4 Continents and the Olympics. I'm going to try to stay awake tonight and watch 4CC through the end.

Same here - that means I'm setting my alarm for 2:30 a.m. to watch the last group of men. Usually I watch later on demand, but this time I want to see what happens live!

Boyang's SP and LP made my day! I love this kid. He is not the most graceful or fluid skater, but not a cookie-cutter skater, either. He brings his unique personality to the ice with so much joy and enthusiasm. He reminds me a bit of Elvis Stojko in that he refuses to fit the mold. I think that takes courage and conviction.

Also, Boyang has stated that he wants to grow artistically, and I can see him doing that (unlike Stojko, who remained very limited in range).

:cheer:

Go Boyang! It's great to see the work he put into improving his skating skills pay off. I also loved how he was so obviously enjoying himself, especially during his choreo sequence to Star Wars. He always showed such a fun personality in his exhibition skates, and it's nice to see that he is now able to incorporate that into his competitive programs. I would love to see him medal at the Olympics, but I have too many favorites now!

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't he the first man to break 200 in the LP and 300 overall internationally this season? It hasn't exactly been a stellar season for the men, Chen has won every event almost by default with everyone splatting all over the place or some cases out altogether. That is why I am not getting the hype on Chen being the overwhelming favorite for the Oly Gold but that is just me.

I am so excited for our boy! Fantastic skate. When he lands his quads the way he did here at 4cc, they are the most perfect and beautiful of any of the skaters competing today. And his PCS has come so far! Even better, this was a very well skated event with a good number of terrific perfoemances, so he really earned his win. I'll have a smile on my face all weekend.

He is really developing beautiful and skilled artistry to go with his jumps! If he has as strong a federation and the same overscoring Nathan Chen gets due to being American or Russian he would be a lock for gold with a clean skate barring a perfect Hanyu. Sadly he is not American and does not get the same politics and overscoring as Chen.

The Olympic mens event will be so hard for me. I so badly want Fernandez to medal or preferably even win. I would love to see Hanyu have a historic 2 peat as I think he is worthy of that. I would love to see Chan skate great, even though he could skate great and not medal this time as his content just isnt up to the others and his PCS are no longer dwarfing the field. I would love to see Boyang take his momentum from her and surprise people with a medal yet again. I would even love to see Kolyada who I have been a fan of for awhile win a medal. Basically I am rooting for everyone except Chen who is possibly the most likely to medal right now, if not win, ugh.

Well, who knows what will happen. Last year everyone expected Nathan to win worlds, but then he didn't even make the podium. All the top guys have been erratic this season with falls and flubs galore. I think Patrick Chan's days of winning with multiple mistakes are over and he just can't do any better at his relatively "old" age. I haven't followed Kolyada closely, but it doesn't seem like he has the consistency either. Let's hope everyone stays healthy for the Olympics; it annoyed me to hear that Misha Ge kept prodding Boyang to do a quad lutz at the exhibition. Everyone knows what happened to poor Hanyu, getting seriously injured on one bad fall practicing the quad lutz. If I were Boyang's coaches, I would have been livid.
