So, I have been following Mirai on Instagram {{like I'm 15 and from the Jersey Shore or Laguna Hills  O-M-G}} and she can put away some breakfast burritos. She has gone to the same place for them 3 days in a row for breakfast.
Well, she said she can eat 18 dumplings! Girl needs her strength today!!!

I know what you mean about instagram. I follow a bunch of skaters and it feels so silly but I want to support them! It's actually been beneficial for me because I need to start using Instagram for my business and thanks to the skaters I know all about it!

I felt that the judges wanted to protect Bradie's first place unless someone else landed all the jumps. Unfortunately many top skaters had just one mistake but better performance than Bradie's. Those should have been rewarded. Some of them might have gotten closer to her marks. Karen did get higher pcs but she was the only one, and she was the last skater. I thought Amber and Mariah were hosed on the pcs. Mirai could have received slightly higher pcs than she did, and I was shocked by how low they scored Ashley in the pcs.

I agree. Judge number 7 in particular. Also Bradie got positive GOE on her 3R which was bit shaky imo. :shuffle:

I hope its a 3axel/3 toe/2 loop!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I think I'd die of happiness if Mirai nailed such a cascade combo in the FS! :swoon:

I am extremely nervous for Mirai and it seems as this day has been going on forever! It is 9:50pm here in France and I just know it will a night waking up every hours.
I know for sure it will be tough to await the results and I so hope the first thing I will read early tomorrow morning will be "WOW Mirai nailed it!" "Finally!",
"Jumps clean as a whistle!"...
It is nervwrecking being a fan but somehow, I want to believe Mirai is really going to give it all this time.
Does anybody else feel the same!?

I do!

She did it!! It's so wonderful to see Mirai so purely happy, proud and confident! She will always be an Olympian but I think being one so young maybe wasn't the full experience. Not that I want to know about her having crazy random athlete sex, but I think representing the USA and interacting with the best national and international athletes from all sports in the world on an equal basis will mean so much more to her now. Being a two-time Olympian is so incredible. I am finally so completely joyful for her! And so grateful to, and happy for, Coach Tom, her family, her boyfriend and everyone who supported her over all these years, esp the last four.

I wanted Mirai to win the gold but I am happy with her silver. It is a safe position when it comes to Olympic team selection. I am sure some day she will land a clean 3A in a competition. She needed it here to beat Bradie, but I will take this. Mirai has worked hard for 4 years, she rose to the occasion tonight, and she is going to the 2018 Olympics. Best luck to her.

I loved the standing ovation, all the support she got from the fans, and her tears of joy.

I was watching live on the West Coast, but my stream cut out. I was so nervous that I had to wait a few minutes before I checked the scores. I am so freaking happy for Mirai. If they don't send her to the Olympics, there will be such an uproar. Last time will pale in comparison. I would love it if she got to skate at least the short program in the Olympic team competition. I actually prefer her long program, but I think she has a better chance of being given the short.

No way they can deny her this time.

Did you see this? I love it! (I dont know how to link to a single tweet, but it's the one with over 900 likes about Mirai and the team selection.)

I was most excited about Mirai summoning so much emotion during the 2018 US National LP, and the PCS reflected that!

I do not mind that the judges are dangling a carrot in front of her in order to get a perfect program out of her. Basically, what the judges and technical panel did for her by giving her a 140 with one UR and imperfect 3A is set her up to score in the 150s if she SUMMONS THAT SAME EMOTION AND SKATES CLEAN WITH THAT EXACT SET OF ELEMENTS.

YASSSSS!!! Congrats to Mirai for winning a spot for Olys after two quads!! :D :40beers: (Now I'm OK to say this, right?)

Mirai's skates to Demons were convincible enough (in me) to see she was serious about climbing up steep slopes. Well done Mirai!! I'm proud of you! (hands down) :cheer2::kickass:

Where better than the Olympics? :D

Medaling three times at a pre-olympics nationals, getting standing Os each time.

She did it! Of course given how consistent the triple axel and her other jumps are in practice, it would have been great to see her land the axel cleanly and take home the gold, but I will definitely settle for the beautiful moment with her final triple loop fist pump and getting the silver medal. Through coaching changes to growth spurts to going through hell with her technique to falling out of favor with her federation. Honestly just her still being in the mix at nationals is such a testament to her resilience. So many people thought she should quit at various points in her career, and now Mirai gets to go to the Olympics a second time. Three years ago after Mirai came in 10th and ran into the wall during her LP, I don't know if even I would have predicted that out of the Ashley, Gracie, Polina trio, Mirai would be the one left standing (and that at pre-olympic nationals, Ashley would be in 4th again, Polina would withdraw from the LP at the last minute, and that Gracie would not be skating, but on Twitter debating with people which of Ashley or Mirai's performances deserved to be scored higher :scream:). Mirai worked hard to improve, and didn't let skating break her spirit.

Also, if there was anyone happier than Mirai last night, it was Tom Z. From him bouncing up and down during her final layback, to his face turning red and screeching at her score. He took her on when no one else would, worked their asses off, taught her the triple axel depite the haters saying it was a waste of time, and he supported her every step of the way. :respec:

I would like her to write a book, I would be interested to know what happened? because she became an independent woman, well, she no longer lives with her parents, she went to study at the university, she takes care of several dogs and the improvement she shows in her skating can not be the result of anything other than discipline. Maybe it was only the maturity she got from going through adolescence to adulthood, but we know that a lot of people never get it, lol. Her parents should feel very proud of her. OMG, I am soooo happy for her. And did you notice that she does not look awkward/ugly/weird crying, she looks very pretty, lucky, haha.

I am so happy she held it together! This really shows how far she has come mentally and also a proof that you can reach your goals with determination and patience later in your skating career :cheer:

I think she was nervous and she seemed a tad slow but performance wise, it was so much a step up from previous competitions! It was fair that Bradie won but overall, it was just such a thrill to have followed Mirai's journey this week and that it ended up with a well deserved silver medal :cheer:

I think this competition was the biggest hurdle mentally speaking and that we will se different Mirai at the Olympics. It was gutsy going for these 3A's and there is definitely potential to land one clean at the games (I cannot see them not selecting Mirai for the team this time around).

Now, I can relax as a Mirai fan and looking forward to her exhibition program :)

Good idea re writing a book! Should be done during this coming spring-summer. (y) I've already read Mao's in this past December. I need a book to read after this season finished. :D I'll be  during reading the book of course! It should have chapters of "On Golden Pond" and "Demons." :)
