2018 Olympics - Qualification rules for singles, pairs, dance & Team event

The Czech Test skate went in Ostrava last weekend. Duskova / Bidar were great in the short, scoring nearly 70 points with all Level 4 elements! (and ya know Czech pannels are always harsh and strict in most cases and many skaters are recieveing their sesons best in international competitions rather than in Czech domestic ones), they were struggleing with lifts in the free but it was so short period after Martin's bicycle crash (three weeks ago - he lost three teeth, being battered and in a big pain but thankfully no big injuries, nothing broken or distorted. They were planning to skate through most of the elements in test skates at first but as last week went well they were showing whole programs. Good guys. SP is last years LA 40 and they have new FP to Cirque de Soleil mix choreographed by Rostislav Sinicyn which looks very good). Cortney Mansour / Michal Ceska won over Nicole Kuzmichova / Alexandr Sinicyn by small margin around 5 points mostly because of the great last year FD to Godfather even with aborted dance spin. The biggest suprise came in ladies competition, firstly the new look Eliska Brezinova, very thin, skating fast, great jumps if jumped as usual but also some artistry and both programmes looked very seniorish, the other suprise came when Eliska has started the free program great (beautiful first three jumps 3Lz, 3T, 3Lo, 2A) and then wasn't able to continue on a high note even fell in the step sequence. Still everybody in the arena has thaught Eliska won but finally she was third. The Oly qualifiyng spot is going to Ukolova who made less mistakes to others. Second was Hanzlikova and Brezinova only third, all of them within 2,5 points - one element.

So Czech team to Nebelhorn is:
Ladies: Elizaveta Ukolova (sub. Michaela Lucie Hanzlikova, Eliska Brezinova)
Pairs: Anna Duskova / Martin Bidar (no subs)
Ice Dance: Cortney Mannsour / Michal Ceska (sub. Nicole Kuzmichova / Alexandr Sinicyn).

"Sonia Lafuente will be looking for a place for women and newcomers Laura Barquero & Aritz Maestu, which will do the same in the category of couple. Lafuente will replace the initially designated Valentina Matos, who is recovering from an injury."

Thanks to @levineismine for posting the article link (in the Kiss & Cry thread) that explains why Matos is listed for Spain and Lafuente not listed at all:

No surprises really in that list, other than perhaps Gala over Reznichenko. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Shuran Yu got the nod based on her win at Southeast Asian Games over the weekend.

However, if they qualified for the team event on their own and were merely using the NK team in the team event instead of their own pairs team, I would not have an issue with it as it would not take anyone's place.

Actually the South Korean government floated the idea a few months ago. The North Korean NOC refused it flatly.

That is what I meant since it was looking reasonably hopeful for S Korea's Ice Dance team, who did end up qualifying through their fourth place finish at Nebelhorn and allowing for S Korea to compete in the team event.
