Who is Gubina? There was some gossip on the Russian forum saying that Atakhanova had tryouts with Mirzoev. No one seems to know whether succesful or not, but from the fact that she then went to watch tests skates and he stayed in St Petersburg it seems that it probably wasn't succesful. So he probably returned to Gubina?
No, I don't mean Mishina. Gubina is his new partner, but she is pairs beginner and she is quite younger, so they would have one year of juniors, then he will age out from juniors and she won't be seniors eligible yet -that year they would be only able to do Russians competitions until she is age eligible for seniors. Saying that, if the rumours are true and he had a tryout with Amina, it is possible that he is not hundred percent committed to his partnership with Gubina and wouldn't mind upgrading if the opportunity arose.Who is Gubina?
Do you mean his former partner Mishina? She has found a new partner quite some time ago by now. That ship has definitely sailed.
I don't think she retired though. I won't believe it until she confirms it. She is on icepartnersearch, and she wouldn't put herself there if she wanted to retire. I think the article said that she retired so that people don't feel bad about the pair splitting up, i.e. not Sopot's fault that he wanted to skate with Poluyanova if Borisova wanted to retire, but the truth may be different. So sad for Borisova -- even though her and Sopot's side by side jumps were always a white knuckle ride (to say the least), I'll always remember their Lawrence of Arabia FS fondly (I really thought they had SO much potential --- darn injuries...)
Hopefully we will see videos of new programs!!!There will be an open training session at the Vdokhnoveniya rink (Mozer's group) on 23th of August. Stolbova/Klimov, Tarasova/Morozov and Zabiyako/Enbert, Zhuk/Britkov and other junior pairs will be there http://www.fsrussia.ru/news/3079-na...toitsya-otkrytaya-trenirovka-dlya-pressy.html
I doubt it, it will be open only for press, so I guess we will have only some news about programs and plans for the seasonHopefully we will see videos of new programs!!!![]()
Doesn't press own a camera? Or haven't they figured out how to download on YouTube? What sort of press is going there?I doubt it, it will be open only for press, so I guess we will have only some news about programs and plans for the season
Only if skaters themselves decide to take part at some small local competitions before the test skates (Moscow Cup or St Petersburg Cup).We don't usually see Russian skaters' programs until the official test skates, as I recall.

oh my...i can already see the fall-apart in front of meMy coach, who has been spending a week with Rukavicin and his group this summer, reports that Dima Aliev is landing the quad lutz and is planning 4 quads in his free skate. Lutz, toe loop, salchow, one of the latter two repeated.
Article on Dmitri Aliev at Golden Skate. He talks about his preparation for the season, his coaches talk about his development as a skater and as a person:

So Aliev is doing classical music for the short and a free similar to his previous program. Even though this sounds pretty conventional, I'm confident he will put his unique stamp on both and embed specific stories into the choreography. I wish interviewers would dig deeper and force him to spell the beans: What exactly is the story behind your program?
A closed competition? What are the reasons? What secrets want to they conceal? The first event of St Petersburg Cup will be on August, 21-25, but it will be closed to the public this year
In last years most St Pete's skaters (Mishin's, Moskvina's and Rukavitsin's skaters) started their season with this event
