wow, it must feel great and relaxing to be allowed to do a step seq without following the music.

It is the first time that I thought, that something is wrong with Medvedeva's music... I am not even sure, that it can become better, but I hope...

This is consistent with my theory that the Chopin program follows the same plot-line as Kate Chopin's The Awakening. At the beginning, Medvedeva is portraying a woman functionally rendered deaf by misogynist oppression. Later, she expresses liberation through technical mastery and lifting her leg over her head.

If she doesn't win gold at the Olympics, Tutberidze will throw all the judges into the sea to somewhat mirror the novella's ending.

That is Chopin's music

I don't mean, of course, that Chopin's music can become or not become better. :) I mean, that I'm not sure, that her skating to this music can become better. Something is wrong for me... This is the first time, that I have such a feeling, when I watch Medvedeva...

I haven't had time to watch all the programmes yet but of the ones I just saw, I must say that altough I love Tarassova/Morozov's Rachmaninov piece, I don't feel it quite suits them. They don't show enough passion on the ice for that music. Maybe in will suit them better in a couple of years from now. Maybe they will grow into the music later this season though - or at least I hope so because I like them.

Maybe they should skate to some cheesy pop, it might suit them better

Another channel with videos from the test skates (HD)

Thanks for the HD version.

I really like Med's program, even with the recycled choreography, and I think her program fits very well with the music. *Except: I hate the ending. She looks like a fish gasping for air. Though I'm sure there's some philosophical meaning behind it. :p Hope they change it...

I hope all the people saying how unswan-like Osmond's Black Swan will also say the same thing about Zagitova's. She was sloppy as hell throughout it with a charlotte that was almost Miki Ando-level. Also, the way they just cut and pasted the Moonlight soundtrack for the step sequence in the middle of that Black Swan piece was seriously random and did not flow back into Black Swan all that well.

someone needs to skate to Gottchalk

  • I want Liz Taylor to make the team. I always enjoy Liza's skating and her personality. She is so lovely.
  • Medvedeva looks fine, but she needs to grow into the program. Nothing earth-shattering.
  • I have never understood Zagitova hype. There is something unattractive about her skating. Rushed, unpolished, forced, not pretty to look at, kind of mindless skating to a piece of music. I know she's consistent and strong. But I don't like watching her at all.
  • Maria is looking more mature. Her skating is bigger. I thought she was bland last year, but I see a different woman on the ice. I think she'll be in contention for that third spot.

I guess they think violin version is easier to skate to.

Actually I don't think the violin version suits Med at all. It's requires long, fulfilled movements, patience-as in finishing everything. When watching the that video yesterday (a few times), I found Med too "staccato", to hopscotchy (if that's word:lol:). And of course, the moves didn't fit the music either. It was probably last years River flows in you, minus the miming, to different music. Med should have went for the piano version and Sotskova for the violin...

Because as @Perky Shae Lynn wrote, Sotskova looked really good, she has improved a lot (while I feel Med has stagnated). Bigger and more mature skating, more confidence. I'm really looking forward to the FS for both.
