Mirai celebrated her 23rd birthday today in Boston by performing in the SC of Boston's Ice Chips show - re-posting from GSD (thanks to @ioana!):

Mirai's second performance made me cry.

She brought back "On Golden Pond" (her poignant exhibition at 2014 Nationals in Boston & the subsequent Stars on Ice tour).

Mirai was stunning live. Her jumps also looked really good -big and lots of ice coverage- which is not always the case when skaters deal with spotlights. Cannot believe I'm saying this, but Tom Z has done wonders for her. Hope she stays injury-free over the summer and comes out guns blazing to start next season

Maybe we shouldn't have "Demons" in this title after all - any other suggestions?

"No one knows Mirai's mirai" from her own joke in the past. She said it with expectations for her future. (Mirai's name 未来 means future.) I'm thrilled for her next season since it is not predictable.

Wow,,,the OGP number is soooooo nice. Cant this be tweaked into a competition piece???? As long as she skated it fast and had transitions I could see a piece like this boosting her PCS score which is where she needs help... LOVE it.

A junior skater is using it next season, so yes. But there is lots of slow, pretty music to chose from if that is what will work for Mirai. She does skate that program exquisitely.

3Lutz-3Loop(!!) and it looks really good! The loop is her best triple, but who would've thought that it would transition well into a end of a combo considering the -3T combos are typically her nemesis!

I wished Mirai a Happy Birthday on her twitter and facebook accounts on her special day but I haven't been on FSU for several days - I was focused on the gymnastics events this month!

That 3L-3R looked GORGEOUS. Just Devine! I've watched it over and over!

I love Tom Z so much. He is just a stud with her and I love them together. This is a perfect direction to take her jumping IMO and will give her wiggle-room and backup options if she can get that combo clean. (Might have a > on both the lutz and the loop, but it's super close!)

Great work Mirai! I hope she can continue on a great path, stay injury free, get stronger programs, and come out guns blazing with surprise GP medals/wins next year. She's finally got that great momentum back again and seems so motivated and happy.

I hope for this too, but I also hope they assume there will be problems and break in three or four pairs in the off season so she has back up boots she can slip right into if necessary.

It would be best if they could figure out the problem, but I don't hold out much hope. There are so many skaters of all levels with boot issues. It is frustrating and expensive and there just don't seem to be any answers, or you get conflicting answers depending on who you talk to.

Mirai skated in the Evanston, Illinois skating show this weekend. She did two solos, the first to I Put a Spell on You and the second to A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes. Both were great performances, with difficult jumps and her gorgeous layback. She also participated in the group number (with high freestyle skaters) at the end.

The theme of the show was Disney, so I'm not sure the program was a exact repeat of her old exhibition (she also used that exhibition in a show leading up to the 2010 Olympics). It was still a treat to see her skate to it again.

Very true.. Didn't Karen Chen go thru something like 7 pairs this season, or did it reach double digits? I know it was reported that she went thru multiple pairs like nothing..

I heard the same thing. Part of the problem is that the leather boots are hand made of a natural material so by their very nature two pairs are never exactly the same. You could wear Reidell Gold Medallion or GAM Gold Label for two or three seasons without incident, but then get a pair that are a little bit different and it changes things competely. Once bone spurs and ongoing blisters start, it can be a downward cycle which is hard to break. Boots that break down too quickly or fall apart (like Mirai's have) start to mess with the skater's confidence which leads to other problems.

If it's not too short for a LP @Karpenko. I thought it is not an easy music to edit but it can create a great moments for a skater. Mirai's power & flexibility can live up to the inspirations from the movie. This music was actually one of the choices for Satoko's SP this season, which were picked by Dickson.
