OMG I had no idea he was fighting cancer. He was such an awesome actor and created some brilliant roles. His scene stealing Sherrif of Nottingham in the awful Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was truly a masterclass in how to make a bad movie brilliant. He should have been knighted years ago.

RIP Mr Rickman you will be sorely missed.

I think I am utterly shocked by this. I absolutely LOVED his Severus Snape.

Very sad. I saw him on stage in "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" and was mesmerized. (Too bad Hollywood cast John Malkovich in the movie version. ) From "Die Hard" to indie films to "Harry Potter," I am happy his art was able to stir so many people though. Rest in peace, Mr. Rickman.

No insult to the fans of HP, Die Hard, Sense and Sensibility, etc., but his best role was in Truly Madly Deeply. Not only was he a total babe, but if that movie doesn't make you : then there is something wrong with you.
