That's a really impressive score for Flores/Desyatov. Looking at his ISU bio with his former partner, Andreeva, it seems their last international was JGP Baltic Cup 2021, which should mean he is eligible to compete internationally (presuming he's got his release) in late October/early November. Perhaps they'll be added to the ISP and assigned to Ice Challenge or Golden Spin.

As I understand it, skaters or coaches have to notify the competition organizers of their official withdrawal(s) before the competition accountants can list a skater as WD in the starting order.

It looks like Hilmer has done so but Tennell has not, so the latter's name will stay in the starting order until the event gets underway/goes live (Gracie Gold is still listed in the SP group A starting order in Ardmore, PA as well).
Hijacking the thread with a random story.

Yes, I believe this remains the case. Internationally, I still remember the situation with a skater named Joffrey Bourdon who was listed to skate at both Europeans and Worlds 2010. His name was drawn for the starting order at least at Worlds, but he didn't show up to the six-minute warm-up and was still called to the start when it was his turn, and given the full 2 minutes (or whatever it was then, it has since been reduced) before being officially withdrawn.

So the conclusion at the time was that no one had bothered to withdraw him, or that he simply didn't exist ;). This was pre-TES minimums, so any skater could've been entered from an ISU member nation regardless of their skill level.

Challenge Cup Senior Ice Dance final standings/link to protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30712/CAT019SEG038.html
I was able to attend the Challenge Cup FD and I just have to say Flores/Desyatov are exquisite. I got emotional from their performance. 107 pts after a couple months together, I can't wait to watch them develop, they are special. Sorry, I don't know what they skated to.

Very nice skate from Ling/Wein also; it brought back fond memories to watch an Abbey Road FD in the same rink Kim/Brent trained their gorgeous Beatles FD.
Thank you for sharing - glad you got to watch in person! :)

Quite a leap up for Flores/Desyatov from 153.97 in their debut at Silicon Valley Open back in early August: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30690/CAT014SEG030.html

Thanks for your comments yesterday @jlai :) - are you there again today?
Hannah Herrera landed her jumps but a bit jerky on the landings. Jordan Scott’s jumps looked good.
Lily was pleased with her skate and had a fist pump in the end.

Pierce landed her jumps and was first in sr women. Murdock didn’t land her 2a cleanly and there was something else that I forgot.

ETA:

Wow, Jessica Jurka scored 103.81 in FS & 152.15 total to win Novice B - according to her FS protocol she landed 7 clean triples -3Lz, 3Lz+2T, 3Lo+2T, 3F, 3T, 3S+2A+2A, 3Lo: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/30869/CAT006SEG010.html

So the top 3 in the Novice Women NQS standings are: Cleo Park 163.02, Jessica Jurka 152.15, Keira Hilbelink 151.30

Yes, there are 20 with a NQS score. Plus I'm hearing unofficially that Paniot may have a chance to compete at Pacific Coasts.

ETA - no NQS score but should have a bye to Sectionals due to having at least one international:
Liam Kapeikis (Pacs), Maxim Zharkov (Easterns) and Will Annis (Easterns, assuming he has moved up).

When and how do we know who officially qualified to sectionals/dance & pairs finals?
Hopefully all the skaters and coaches have been notified directly by now (ETA or will be sometime this week). If you mean the rest of us ;), we may have to wait until the rosters for the 3 Sectional and Ice Dance/Pairs Finals are published online (a new thread will be created for those competitions).

I'm working on compiling unofficial lists and will post here when I can.

In the meantime, here's a relevant post in the U.S. Ice Dance news thread: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...22-23-news-updates.109795/page-6#post-6301879

I’ve seen a few Instagram posts that have mentioned they qualified to Sectionals, so it seems like the skaters might know? Now whether they’ve been officially told, or they are just going by the standings listed in EMS. I have no idea 🤷‍♀️

Per the NQS Handbook:

"Advancement information will be sent via email, outlining the EMS registration process and competition details in early October. Each qualifier will be required to complete registration and pay their entry fee within 72 hours of receipt of advancement email from U.S. Figure Skating HQ. If no response, spot will be forfeited, and alternate will be invited."

So, the skaters may know or maybe they don't yet. But, as you stated going thru the standings in EMS one can figure it out.

Advancement is below, again per the NQS Handbook:

"SINGLES • Juvenile – Novice: 24 skaters per level o Top 4 overall scores from each region, next best 12 overall scores from the section • Junior – Senior: 18 skaters per level plus byes o Top 4 overall scores from each region, next best 6 overall scores from the section

PAIRS • Juvenile – Novice: 24 teams per level o Top 4 overall scores from each section, next best 12 overall scores from nation • Junior – Senior: 18 teams per level plus byes o Top 4 overall scores per section, next best 6 overall scores from nation

ICE DANCE • Juvenile – Novice: 24 teams per level o Top 4 overall scores from each section, next best 12 overall scores from nation • Junior – Senior: 18 teams per level plus byes o Top 4 overall scores per section, next best 6 overall scores from nation"

The "uncertainty" currently involves the Senior and Junior singles skaters with byes to their respective Sectionals who also competed in a NQS and so are listed in the standings.

The "uncertainty" currently involves the Senior and Junior singles skaters with byes to their respective Sectionals who also competed in a NQS and so are listed in the standings.
But is there really any uncertainty about who actually makes Sectionals? I mean it's 18 competitors PLUS byes. To get a bye to Sectionals, you have to be assigned to and compete at a GP, JGP or Challenger. So, for Senior Women:
Heiner
Hilmer
Shin
Glenn
Harrell
Andrews
Gold
Seo
Josephine Lee*
Budko*
Levito*
Lofton*
Thorngren*
Izzo*
Zeigler*
* hasn't competed yet

So, take out all of these competitors. Look at the top 4 from each region after these women are removed and then take the next 6 highest scores out of the section. You can filter the standings by region and Section. The only few who maybe would be on the bubble would be if skaters that aren't listed above are assigned to Ice Challenge. According to the document, this counts as a bye, but since it's about the same time as Sectionals, I'm not sure if they would move down the standings to add more skaters in or not? Or maybe if one of these skaters with an asterisk doesn't compete for whatever reason?
Now, qualifying to Nationals is a bit different and obviously not all of the skaters will be at Sectionals, but it's a start to find out if a skater made it.

I just came across this local Austin, Texas news channel's segment filmed last week during the Austin Autumn Classic (Surya Bonaly, who coaches in Las Vegas, is quoted at the end of the video/article) - National figure skating competition hits the ice in Cedar Park: https://www.fox7austin.com/news/national-figure-skating-competition-cedar-park
The Crossover sports complex is hosting one of the last qualifiers of the season with 300 skaters signed up to take the ice over the weekend.
"They are all trying to make it to Sectionals, which is the next step before you make it to Nationals," said Cindy Chapa, with the Austin Figure Skating Club.
Surya Bonaly knows her ice, and not just because she is a skate coach. "Usually, we like to stick to the West Coast, and now I think it's great," she said.
Bonaly is the 9-time national champion of France, has three World silver medals, and is a 5-time European Champion. She is also the only Olympic figure skater to land a backflip on one blade.
"The complex is perfect for practices, it is really, really, good and next door with the Big Arena for National Championships, it will be wonderful," said Bonaly.

Having been there, I thought they spent a pretty penny on this facility. Lounge with big TVs, beach volleyball, etc. I see this event coming back to Cedar Park

eta: and they have two zambonis cleaning the ice (flashback to a certain local competition in Texas where the zamboni hit the barrier...)
