YouTube musical discoveries

I discovered Reverb, which is a YouTube channel dedicated to breaking down various songs to the fundamentals and recreating the sound. From glancing at the video library, it seems they have various people dedicated to different musical genres. I've been obsessed with William Kurk recreate bass lines and synth sounds lately.

His breaking down and recreating Madonna's "Into the Groove" made me realize how fire that bass line was and it might be the best bass line in pop music:

I also enjoyed his break down of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" which is probably my favorite disco song ever and way ahead of its time:

I happened to catch this feature on 60 Minutes last night and really enjoyed it (a snippet): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs_pi0JMBX4
Alma Deutscher is a young British music virtuoso, not just on piano and violin, but as a composer too. Alma says it's normal for her to walk around "having melodies popping into my head."
Full segment is here: https://www.cbsnews.com/video/alma-...gy-whose-first-language-is-mozart-2019-08-11/

(Filmed when her segment first aired on60 Minutes two years ago) Watch a prodigy create -- from four notes in a hat (Nov. 3, 2017): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvECZ_ZXGqs
60 Minutes pulls four musical notes out of hat, and young composer Alma Deutscher takes off, improvising a piano sonata in under a minute.
Alma's YT channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/AlmaDeutscher

Band Maid . Of course, hard rock isn't everyone's cup of Gunpowder Green Tea. But this is a most interesting look: a 5 piece band of female Japanese singers/musicians with some dressed in a maid's outfit, and playing with a real kick-ass attitude!

Yesterday Pelageya was invited to Urgant's evening TV show. Of course, I knew this folk singer before and loved her, but anyway I was amazed: she was asked to join some modern songs - and she made it so easily!
(Rammstein, Post Malone, Skrillex)
It is very beautiful!
(not from the beginning of the video, from this moment):

I can show the songs Pelageya usually sings, if it is interesting.

:) enjoying the Russian "Voice. Kids" again
Usually our kids sing in Russian or in English, but some of them sing in other languages too.
Some new videos are really interesting.

Taisiya Skomorokhova is amazing :yikes::)

Ekaterina Kretova is strong as a singer. When they start talking to her, they ask if she can sing something different - and she sings Edith Piaf's song (in the same video)

Artyom Fokin chose an unusual song too

as for songs in English... maybe these?

Artyom Morozov - Who Wants to Live Forever

Elina Khan - Back in the USSR

Anne-Sophie Mutter . Hardly a 'discovery', as she's been performing for decades now, but I thought I'd list her in light of the news that she has tested positive for that blasted Virus. Let's all have our thoughts with her for a full recovery, as we see in performance this talented lady.

Came up on my recommendations this morning and it's beautiful playing of beautiful music. I didn't know this sonata. The pianist is oustanding as a chamber player.

Cello Deck From South Korea, whoever directed her videos had a cinematographer's idea of how to film such easy going music, aided by the performer being beautiful:

Anastasia Tyurina Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the young girl is 7 years old !. But even apart from that, her fellow musicians are quite talented as well. If you ever wanted the ideal balalaika/upright-bass/piano/drums jazz quartet from Russia, this is it!
