Yanny or Laurel

They very first time I heard it, I heard Yanny. Mr. Fridge, who also was hearing it for the first time, heard Laurel. He thought I was crazy  Since then, whenever I pull it up, all I hear is Laurel, but maybe that’s because I was thinking about it too much? Mr. Fridge played it on his phone when I wasn’t expecting it and I heard Yanny. Now it’s back you Laurel

I've listened to it over and over since the first day they shared it on GMA. All I hear is "Yanny". Actually, I hear it pronounced like "Yann … e". The "e" is very dominate at the end.

It is the voice of Jay Aubrey Jones. I found an interview with him on Yahoo Finance, and he's flabbergasted at the attention this is receiving.

There's another 'what do you hear' thing going around now too... "Brainstorm" vs "Green Needle". Whichever word (or combination of the words) that you think of is what you hear. I've done it, and depending on what I think of, I've heard 'brainstorm', 'green needle', 'greenstorm' and 'brain needle'. Really weird!!

I hear both (same device, same clip). Sometimes it's Laurel, and sometimes it's Yanny. Sometimes I'll play a clip repeating the word twice. First one is Yanny and the second is Laurel. Also, at times I hear both names superimposed (Laurel's "voice" dominates in that case though, but I hear Yanny's tone in the background. It doesn't always happen though). Again, I'm using the same device at all times, as well as the same headphones, and playing the same clip.
I've taken pitch perception tests before and scored very high, but I don't know if that's related.

My mum only hears Yanny and she can't believe anyone can hear Laurel. My dad only hears Laurel and can't believe anyone hears Yanny. I, otoh, totally believe that.

o.k. - they played it on SNL Weekend Update and I heard "laurel clearly. It sounded like a deep male voice just reading the word. "Yanny" sounds like a mechanical voice. I heard them on the same t.v., so it must be the device that it is played on originally and how their speakers or volume is set.
